Born out of a lockdown night when their usual Saturday night plans were off limits, Defected regular Darius Syrossian and South Records boss George Smeddles decided to cook something up for the anticipated return to the club. With just a vocal to work with, they decided to produce something with the 90s, uplifting vibe dancefloors would be needing. Demonstrating the same addictive, dancefloor-ready grooves seen on their previous collabs like ‘Get Toast’ and ‘Blood Orange’, this latest joint venture once again delivers the heat. With its deep organ bassline, playful keys and irresistible 4/4 swing, this record oozes club appeal in a way you can only expect from producers rooted firmly in the scene. Originally released in November 2021, Guy Gerber and Albertina’s ‘Bocat’ saw support on BBC Radio 1 from Pete Tong and Danny Howard, with the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Ame and many more spinning the record in clubs all over.

Nic Fanciulli returns to Hot Creations with ‘YSD, marking the release of his first EP on the illustrious label. 

With a myriad of projects on his plate, from commanding residencies at iconic venues such as Space Ibiza and Ushuaïa, to heading up his longstanding Saved Records imprint and championing talents like Dennis Cruz, Hot Since 82 and Francisco Allendes, it’s evident why Nic Fanciulli continues to stand as a beacon of undeniable influence and success within the electronic sphere. Having appeared as a remixer of Jamie Jones’ and Lee Foss’ famed ‘Benediction’ in 2014, the Grammy-nominated DJ/producer and label boss joins the Hot Creations family with original material for the first time, with his wealth of experience shining through across ‘YSD’.

Hannah Wants unveils Ghetto EP on DFTD, a return to her edgier, bass-heavy roots with two distinct tracks designed for the club. Hannah’s trajectory throughout 2023 was signposted by performances at flagship events including Defected Croatia, Defected’s Australasian Tour and The Warehouse Project. In 2024, her collaboration with Sam Divine and Jem Cooke, ‘Cruel Intentions’, kicked off the year before Hannah appeared on the ambitious livestream celebrating 25 years of Defected with 25 titan DJs playing B2B in 2024. After a string of releases showcasing her more emotive side on the London house label, Hannah Wants now returns to the bass house sound she helmed for over a decade, releasing Ghetto EP on sister label DFTD. The first of two deeper, headsier cuts, ‘Ghetto’ offers relentless club energy, with deep, percussive synths that hammer away underneath expressive audio sampling. ‘Let The Beat Talk’ follows, featuring frequent Plump Records collaborator Baby Luck on cool vocals, with its hard and tough sound shaking the floor as high frequency synths bubble overhead.

Title track ‘XTC’ finds Maynard and HoneyLuv team up for a confident club groover with menacing vocal hooks and playful rhythms, infusing a retro essence into the track. Next, Jones crafts an exemplary, underground dubby take on the track, intertwining layered effects and hypnotic atmospherics for the ultimate dancefloor weapon. To close, ‘Fly Away’ is another twisted offering that comes with Maynard’s distinct blend of depth, melody and groove carefully designed with a futuristic feel.
