We play tribute to legendary Giorgio Moroder’s 1979 classic and seminal Italo-Synth-Disco tune with our Italian Connection remix package.  The original is taken from the album with the same name released on Casablanca Records which also features I Wanna Rock You. Moroder’s career spans over five decades starting in the sixtees. He is a three-time Oscar-winning and two-time Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter and performer (Top Gun, Flashdance, Midnight Express). He is also known for working with artists like, Donna Summer, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury. We can write many pages with interesting stuff around his work, but this release is about the remixes.

We invited two of the most influential people in the early eightees Italo-Electronic scene. How about Alexander Robotnick, (real name Maurizio Dami), that we all know from his groundbreaking track from 1983 Problèmes D'Amour. A track that originally came out on Italian label Fuzz Dance and created a world-wide stir and still today are played amongst trend setters.  He continued working during the ninetees with various projects and is now back in the last years being very active in the Nu-Disco scene.   

Secondly we’re very thrilled about having Daniele Baldelli in this project. One of the true pioneers in the Cosmic Disco scene in Italy. Being the resident at Cosmic club in Lazise between 1979-84 and also playing at the Baia Degli Angeli club in Gabicce, where he mixed space disco oddities with all kind of eclectic music from that era. If you’re lucky enough to own one of his super rare Cosmic Tapes, then you understand what it was all about. Many claim him to be one of the best Dj’s ever.

Another old-skooler we invited is Klein & MBO, who released some classics on Atlantic in early eightees such as Wonderful, Dirty Talk and The MBO Theme.

On the more recent notes we have Rodion (Gomma, Eskimo , Nang), Dionigi (Quantic Division) I-Robots (Opilec Music) and L.I.S.
All in all, the remixers didn’t mess up with the original to much. I beleive they treated it with gentle hands and just added their trademark sounds to it. Ok, the I-Robots mix took another angle with it’s deep tribal version but I feel it works nice anyway.

German DJ/producer David Hanke (best known for his long-standing work as Renegades Of Jazz) returns next week with a brand new 12"! Out 19th October via South London label Shapes of Rhythm, 'Der Kugelkreis' is home to two slices of what Hanke calls "Krauthaus" - deep, winding, psychedelic house music for the afterparty crew. Pure in conception and thoughtful in execution, both of these tracks are sure to be picked up by discerning DJs. Our pick is 'Permutation', a slow burner that dazzles with yearning chords, organic percussion and kaleidoscopic vocal cut ups.

The night was awash with flickering stars and dancing light. Here they were trapped upon a small island gazing out towards the whispering ocean, two strangers in paradise. They were lost yet very much alive. There was a warmth to the air on what was a quiet, summer evening. Their sun kissed skin was as golden as the soft, delicate sand upon which they tread so wearily. They would both sleep weel that night, lost in the comfort of each others arms and gentle embrace. 

Dominik Marz & David Kochs appear on a new EP for Huntleys & Palmers sub label Belters, an imprint which has received firm support from a collective group of disc jockeys. We've been told that Ame have been playing this one out a lot, so some of you may recognise.

What we gonna do right here is “Go Back”, way back. It not only reminds of an Arthur Russell vibe, it has the de facto ingredients of Arthur Russell’s highly acclaimed garage sound: naturally Steven Hall aka Nirosta Steel was the guitarist and/or singer of Arthur Russell’s hits “Is It All Over My Face”, “In The Light Of A Miracle” or “Tell You Today”. Nirosta Steel met up with DJ, producer and Chinese record shop owner Tomasz Guiddo, who had a previous Compost Disco release. When Kalabrese heard the original, he said it reminded him of a hidden Talking Heads track. Kalabrese has delivered his typical live-made disco-tinged joy ride, with its hypnotic groove and clever dubbed out electronics.

Sweden’s favourite house label Local Talk return with a new LP compiled by one of the imprints most beloved artists Crackazat, and he has been given special permission remix and rework a selection of label's back catalogue for their edit's series.

Previous artists who have compiled a reworks album for the series include HNNY, Jacques Renault plus Kyodai, and this is perhaps one of the best yet.

Ben Jacobs better known to music fans as Crackazat, is a young talent originally from Bristol in the UK. Early in his career he was the official warm up act for Floating Points and he shares a similar sound fusing upbeat jazzy chords with house shuffling percussion.

Local Talk have become synonymous with breaking new talent such as HNNY that later goes onto achieve big things, and Crackazat is one such artist who has used the label as a spring board to kick start an accomplished career.

Crackazat has now featured tracks and remixes on other labels including Josh Wink's Ovum, Joey Negro's Z Records and Derrick Carter’s Classic. Early in his career he also released on the infamous Future Boogie, and a number of his Local Talk tracks have been licenced to prestigious compilations compiled by brands like Defected.

Featuring everyone from Terrence Parker to Soulphiction, the Local Talk back catalogue has original music from many of house music’s greatest artists who sit alongside fresh talent such as Jaxx Madicine and Marcel Lune.

Choosing tracks that he either loves of feels he can improve with a bit of careful editing, Crackazat has spent time hand picking a selection of tracks that showcase the Local Talk back catalogue in all its dazzling glory.

For those already familiar with some of the original versions on this release, it’s a fantastic chance to rediscover a classic in a revised format, and for those new to the label prepare to hear some of the best house music out there with strong influences from other genres such as jazz, funk and soul.

Piff Records pulls a petal from it’s 004 with Subjoi, recruiting @adam0emil - who featured on the track Paradise back in September - and @slimhustlaxxx who go twos on the new EP, “Travellers”.

Emil’s side features A1’s “Genuine”, driven by auto-tuned contemporary style vocals that ice all over the melancholy synth work, giving way to “Hovedspring” which presents itself as liquid drum and bass at house tempo - intricate drum programming and trance palet of ambient sounds, well padded throughout.

Slim Hustla takes over the B side, complimenting the ethereal sounds of Emil, first with “Newfound Love” - no less than a synth work out - dripping with arpeggiated notes that open up to their fullest, bouncing between stabs and waves of atmosphere electronics. “We Forget that the Water Cycle and the Life Cycle Are One” takes the beat format of electro, mobilized by acoustic drum sounds, setting the listener up for a full-blown acid hardcore breakbeat closer on “Midnight in Copenhagen”.

Exclusive Filburt 'Unnoticed Love (Charles Webster Remix)'

Based in Germany's pulsating creative city Steffen Friedrich, better known as DJ Filburt, implemented aspiring label O*RS alongside Florian Seidel in 2011. Ever since its start the label has given home to rising and prestigious artists such as Braunbeck, Yannick Labbé and of course to his own productions. With the start of 2019 O*RS kicks of the year with an EP from the co-founder himself, 'Unnoticed Love', that comes with two original tracks and a remix from legendary UK producer Charles Webster for the EP's title track. The House Music-veteran twists the original into a dark and vibrating piece of music that smoothly implements the robotic vocals to emphasize the track's message, namely that of an 'unnoticed love'. Raw soundscapes and a lush yet dull bass line encounter the robotic voice leave it in the dark even though it is seeing the light of day at this exact moment and combine both the unnoticed momentum of the track's message and the urge to express it at the same time. With Charles' remix treatment the producer accomplishes the consolidation of a futuristic approach in a classical House track that has not been heard before.

Filburt's EP 'Unnoticed Love' will be out January 25th, 2019 on O'RS.
