Comprised of brothers Jimmy (guitar, lead vox) and Kane Maraday (bass, vox) and joined by Aaron Gollubier (drums), New Brunswick, NJ-based group The Rareflowers craft an infectious blend of jangle and power-pop reminiscent of masters like The Cars and The Replacements. Following a self-released split single, the band now announces their signing to Brooklyn-based label Good Eye Records and their forthcoming debut EP.

Although the name may be new, the seeds of The Rareflowers were sown as early as 2013. Jimmy and Kane had left their previous band to join Aaron, who had also left his band, to experiment with multitrack cassette recording.

Flash forward to 2016 and The Rareflowers, performing under a different name, meet Matthew Molnar (Friends, Kissing Is A Crime) at New Brunswick basement show. Molnar would prove integral in the production of the EP with mixing done by Jarvis Taveniere of Woodsist Records. Born from the spirit of this newly formed partnership, The Rareflowers are already at work on a follow-up LP.

That track is now set to open side B of Cathedral Bells’ debut, self-titled EP which will see release on cassette and digitally via Good Eye Records.

The EP is preceded by singles “Cemetery Surf” and “A Passing Phase” drawing initial praise from tastemakers including Indie Shuffle who said; “I think Cathedral Bells have struck the perfect balance of throwback synth work, melodic progression and overall shoegazey vibes. The result works in the 80s, the 90s, the naughties and in 2018. And that’s quite good coverage, all things considered.”

Although otherworldly in its textures, indie-pop group Quiet Kids new, self-titled EP is rooted firmly in the ties that bind. Family and friends serve as the bedrock to finding one’s voice, as Quiet Kids have done exactly that with their short player coming via Good Eye Records.

Formed in 2014 in McAllen, TX by songwriter Andy Peña with bassist Devin Garcia, the two started writing under the moniker once things started to settle with their previous group Dignan. They would then artfully craft a fuller sound recruiting keyboardist David Ramirez and drummer Adrian Loera. The band would then go on to earn support slots for luminaries such as Angel Olsen, Mitski, Miniature Tigers.

The music on the Quiet Kids EP mixes dreamy synths with smooth basslines and tight drums as melodic vocals touch on everyday themes.

Peña details, “People, places and things pull you in every direction, and it’s easy to please any and everyone. If we all just said what was on our minds we’d have much more of an understanding of who we are, and what we’re looking for... It’s only in the stability of my relationships that I realized I can write about whatever I feel. My art is me, and my family, and friends.”

Having played in several bands and touring throughout the US since, skipping college in the process, Cincinnati-based artist Curt Kiser has been meticulously crafting his proper debut as a songwriter in step with his own personal development. Adopting the moniker Carriers back in 2014, Kiser has worked with a collective of friends, including Bryan Devendorf (The National) and John Curley (The Afghan Whigs), to bring his sweeping rock visions to life.

Carriers’ debut LP, "Now Is The Time For Loving Me, Yourself & Everyone Else", is a testament to the power of self-reflection and is carefully layered, leaning on strong core songwriting, hypnotic synths and lush guitar tones from Kiser, mesmerizing percussion delivered by Devendorf, and nuanced, dynamic bass lines from Curley. The 9-track album evokes the same guitar-led grandeur of The War on Drugs as Kiser takes stock of life, death, relationships and gratitude for another day.

As Kiser details, “Overall it's about appreciating what we have and remaining present, while still being able to have an honest perspective of the past and our future. I’ve personally found a lot of peace in just working hard and staying focused on what I've got going on, trusting, rather than being consumed with striving. This record process has taught me a lot about patience. Life will continue to teach me to have more. I’m just trying to accept what happens and handle it the best I can. Patience is forever.”
