Berlin rediscovers its Super 8 avant-garde. The playful, S/M-tinged four-minute WEDDING NIGHT by Ika Schier, first aired at the seminal 1981 “Ingenious Dilettantes” festival at the Berlin Tempodrom, has just seen its re-release on the DVD “BERLIN SUPER 80” (Monitorpop Entertainment) .

The short film’s soundtrack “Heyraten” hails back to the summer of ‘81 and was sung by the director herself, with the musical support of Bym (later FLUCHT NACH VORN) and Johannes Vester (ALU). The track, brimming with captivatingly morbid but humorous No Wave charm, was initially featured on the 1982 tape compilation AN DIE SCHWARZE KUNST (Cassettenkombinat).

Now, a good 24 years later, T.Raumschmiere (of Shitkatapult fame) transforms „Heyraten“ into a mad, witch’s broom-brandishing death disco shuffle.
