Sam Hiscox, better known as Imba is a Bristol UK based Drum & Bass Producer/DJ to keep both eyes on. Spending his fledgeling years in the studio honing his production style by experimenting with many genres and drawing influence from a multitude of artists including Spectrasoul, Lenzman, Break, Kimyan Law, Culprate, Hybrid Minds, Technimatic and Koan Sound, his diversity of creative input is apparent in his productions.

A shimmering, evolving soundscape sets the tone for this deeply emotive 2 track release as the intro of 'Just A Phase' rolls out. A crispy clean break and progressive layers of harmonising vocals lift the track to the next level before the drop. Vocalist Leah Costello delivers a soothing yet catchy performance, and that coupled with the addition of a resonating guitar lick makes this one a real earworm.  DJs will be all over this one, it’s perfect for the mix, sitting right on the groove of 2016’s liquid revolution. 

Another immersive intro of emerging pads and lush harmonics signal the start of the heartfelt 'Departure'. Warm enveloping basslines pull you straight into the drop with a backdrop of subtle yet present pads and Imba's signature soft keys pepper the mix and paint a vivid picture without the need for a vocal.

The electric sharpness of the baselines. It ventures into obscure melodies, with inspiration from the Spanish to the Middle Eastern. An analogue thick, big punch, explorative, repetitious space. Both visceral and self-assured.

Drop Frame (Tom) has been producing since a very young age, introduced to the Perth rave scene by his Sister, he fell in love with the energy and became determined with writing the same music that sparked within him. Through the years that followed, he attempted and experimented with multiple genre's, from the manic speed of hardcore - to slow jazz electronic odysseys in 'Monk' and 'Catalyst'. He's since had multiple tracks played on Triple J in Australia, noted by inthemix, shared the 'Best Music Video' atom award with visionary director Oli Sansom. Featured incredible musicians such as Savage, Annie Inkerman, Mike Waters, GCM and recently Alice Phoebe Lou. Part piano player, part music nerd and part mad scientist - Drop Frame is a unique listen. Firecracker is his take on Drum and Bass, A return to roots - With a confident yet experiential approach.

Imba’s story started when he began pouring over the many genres electronic dance music had to offer. It was here he found a home within drum & bass, having perfected his craft over the past two years and taking influence from a multitude of definitive artists, from Technimatic to Koan Sound. His diversity and creative draw comes from a vast musical knowledge, a knowledge he created whilst meticulously expanding his record collection, as well as his own back catalogue with every stellar cut he’s followed from his first release. 

Already being pedestalled by the scene’s most exciting independent imprints, Imba returns to Good Karma Music for a four-track EP that’ll highlight his impressive musicality. With his first notable output on the Perth based label, the ‘Infinite EP’ is certainly a return to form. Its complexly designed landscapes and stunning textures pull you into the deep, liquid vibes he rules supreme over. A stark testament to his ingenious production capabilities and viability as an upcoming drum & bass artist, he manages to capture the soul of more intimate productions whilst catering to the heads. 

Opening track ‘Feel You’ draws your synapsis in with pitched up synths and floating, ethereal samples. Metallic breaks add a foreboding overture to its carefully layered intro, before the track cascades into scuttling percussion and escalating tones. A fresh take on the otherwise delicate sounds of liquid, Imba demonstrates why he’s been pushed into the forefront over recent years. Title-track ‘Infinite’ follows suit, a collaboration between Leah Costello and Octo Pi. With beautifully distorted vocals drifting between the intricately manufactured mix, each pad takes you higher and higher into its moody breakdowns. Once again, it’s a play on the traditional, uplifting liquid record.

Finally, ‘Starlight’ and ‘Dynasty’ close the already stunning collection of tracks. Whilst ‘Starlight’ is an upbeat, percussive roller which features littered note arpeggios and a drivingly winding bassline, ‘Dynasty’ brings producer Tremah on board for its combination of wooden instrumentals and explosive bass. Together, they further solidify Imba’s presence within the circuit. By adding yet another two strikingly honed records which prove a timelessness in his production standard.

Good Karma Music have continued to put themselves on the forefront of the independent dance music circuit, having delivered a variety of subgenres which defy any prototype set up before them. Despite primarily releasing drum & bass, they’ve committed themselves to also hosting all manners of groundbreaking musical selections. 
Based in Perth, Australia, Good Karma Music have become a hub for avid listeners across the world, drawing out inspired records across cyberspace’s furthest reaches and paving the way for burgeoning artists for are only just beginning to forge their careers. One of these artists is Blayze, who’s set to establish himself as part of the Good Karma Music roster with his forthcoming EP ‘Galaxies’. ‘Galaxies’ presents three brand new offerings from the producer, a collection of tracks which pedestals his ingenious sound design and a penchant for progressive production, reflected in every one of his compositions. 
Your first introduction is through ‘Galaxies’, underpinned by sultry female vocal melodies and slowly pitching synth patterns. The track begins to roll effortlessly into quick note arpeggios, given more weight by smashing kick drum and flurries of stabbing beats. Blayze presents himself as a multi-faceted artist, one who’s able to blend the light and dark elements which make it such a revered genre within dance music. Following in quick succession is ‘Ride High’ ft. Blake Rose, with soulful voice crescendos and swatches of emotive hooks. It’s the perfect embodiment of what Blayze is about as an artist, pulling out the same softly spoken musicality, whilst also nodding to his versatility, not showing a one-dimensional approach to his sound. Up next, title-track ‘Be Mine’ follows the same vibe whilst adding another layer onto the producer’s soundscape. Its more percussive elements move subtly through the mix, whilst each piano strum pulls you in deeper and deeper. Blayze playfully uses vocals to once again add a more humanistic approach to his music, highlighting a standard of engineering which is upheld from start to finish. That’s what makes artists like Blayze shine so brightly against Good Karma Music. Together, they epitomise artist integrity, by giving a platform to the  producers who are moving the scene’s core.

Whether its drum & bass or another meticulous composed electronic genre, they’ve ensured each release is created with the upmost precision. And alongside promising talent such as Esym, they’ve garnered a reputation for the type of innovative sounds which line the sets of DJs globally. That’s exactly what Esym delivers with his next output; his collaboration with Good Karma Music yet again proves commitment to the type of talent which has seen their discography grow exponentially.

The ‘Descent EP’ is a set of beautifully twisted, sonic mechanics which bring together the elements of Esym’s production that make him such a force to be reckoned with. From its synth-led intro, to its ambient closing track ‘Dawn’, by signing this EP they’ve set another standard for their label and roster, as well as the wider drum & bass circuit. Following opener ‘Dusk’, with its carefully strung piano notes and dainty bassline, Esym takes you through fully-encompassing waves of composition. ‘Decent’ follows with the same groove, underpinned with a jazzy-feel and clinking, clattering percussion instrumentals. Up next is ‘Journey’ is just as enveloping, despite being slightly more urgent than its forerunners. Each drum peddle and clicking hi-hat gives the track a subtle kick, flipping you through the motions before you become ensnared in its rhythm. ‘Glass Floor’; its dreamy layering and steppy backdrop pulls you into an effortless motion of engineering, taking you in deeper and deeper between every figure of eight. ‘Dawn’ brings the EP to a close, with loops of recorded samples and a cascading mix. Each segment seeps naturally into the next, creating an intricate design which is given more weight with every shaking sub Esym hasn’t come to disappoint and all five tracks pedestal a producer who’s expertly manufactured his art.

‘Acid Rain’ is a fast paced, high energy creeper. From it’s menacing, atmospheric intro, to the high octane, bass rumbling drop - this dark and haunting stepper packs a punch and is sure to be making the rounds in the filthiest of club nights for a while.
Favouring deep over dark for the second offering, ‘Desire’ showcases a more emotive tone to the release.
