Not sleeping isn’t me trying to come off as this sort of immortal entrepreneur, because sleep is just as important as any other life sustaining necessity.
I’ve tried it all. Watching TV, Reading Books. Shit, I even count sheep and nothing!
But I know the problem. You see I’ve dedicated most of my life to Freestyle. Not just as a fan, but as a dependent. 
Freestyle is responsible for some wonderful things in my life. Including my wife!!! 
Otherwise we would never have met. And believe me. If I could live my life a thousand times… She’d be with me till the end.
So I worry about this genre… About where it is… and where it’s headed, and if you’re a fan, artist, or other… so should you!

GOODNIGHT FREESTYLE PODCAST - EPISODE 89

Born and raised in the Bronx, NY then moving to Queens, detoured Latif Mercado’s chances to have been raised among his Freestyle Music peers. But what is meant to be, will indeed be, and Latif eventually ended up, as one of the primary figures of the genre,

Beginning his Freestyle career, first as a writer and producer for recording Artist Lil’ Suzy, then as her road manager and then manager. 

Latif’s involvement with this artist allowed him to tour the United States, and abroad, placing him in front of some of the biggest Club and Concert promoters.

Latif soon became the liaison between promoters and some of the most popular artists in the market, helping to assemble many shows, until he realized the value of what he was doing, and began marketing himself now as a Booking Agent.

Today, Latif still operates as an agent, and manager, and continues to tour the country, with Lil’ Suzy, as well as The Cover Girls, who’s lead singer, Angel, Latif married in 2007.

Nurturing his 20 plus years of relationships, while still establishing new ones, Latif continues his leadership role, with his outspoken advocacy for the originality and the authenticity of Freestyle artists and their work, as well as a teacher, of Freestyle’s inner-workings through a series of on-line videos.

Latif currently resides in North Carolina with his wife, two grown kids and four grandchildren.
