In the memory of the ocean drifts a continent that has dissolved into silence.
Mu lingers as echoes: transparent dances carried by waves, refrains returning like tides.
Each piece is a dream traced in mist, a spiral folding into depth, a voice suspended in water.

To listen is to move with this hidden choreography — gestures rising and vanishing like phosphorescence in the dark.
What remains is purity glimpsed in passing, a resonance that unfolds again and again, never ending, always returning.

The tonal centers of the cycle ascend step by step: F, G, A, B, C, D, E.
It is the skeleton of a Lydian mode — a ladder of brightness.
Yet every piece is minor, shaded and submerged.

The paradox becomes the voice of Mu:
architecture of light, veiled by water.
What should rise as radiance drifts as memory,
each step a fragment refracted through the ocean’s depth.


Ritournelles of Mu follows the clarity of sound shaped by limits.
Each phrase is drawn with restraint, every resonance distilled to its essence.
The music is crystalline, sufficient, exact — a space where nothing is missing and nothing exceeds.

The pieces return endlessly, folding the moment back into itself.
Repetition becomes a form of eternity, and the ocean remembers through these echoes.

Welcome to Memoir, label and music channel of warm and relaxed soundscapes. Memoir Music is a melancholic train ride through memory lane.

Transcending genres, the cohesive aspects of the music are organic, image inducing and pleasant tracks that can be either with or without beat. Memoir Music forms its own style by combining music from different genres that share the warm feeling and make you reminisce, while making the sound accessible for a wider audience.

Layers of organic sound sourced from every day life, warm ambient layers and enticing melodies and optionally a soft beat is what defines Memoir. Memoir Music is a streaming dreamscape. A comfort zone. Something to play with headphones when you’re all alone, drifting away in to a different world.

The Droplets of Dew is inspired by the Matsuo Basho haiku:

I like to wash,
The dust of this world
In the droplets of dew.

The piece is written especially for this occasion and involves four concert grand pianos and fixed media (pre-recorded computer sound).

The sounds of water and resonances of the piano are the basic sound materials of the piece. I'm very grateful to my husband, Thomas Wells, who has amazing expertise in computer music and the knowledge of all kinds of useful sound-synthesis applications, for helping me realize some sound imagery--for example, the sound the piano strings set into vibration by a drop of water.

In general, I'm trying to achieve the beauty of the piece on a more intimate level-- concentrating on a palette of timbres, and in some ways disregarding the traditional expectations of and approaches to piano music and performance. Both the pianos and the computer sounds are treated as instruments of an imaginary orchestra.
