Words.....

As the scraggy, crooked outlander walked, an icy wind spiralled behind him, sending shivers to all it touched. His spindly hand grasped a staff formed from melted yew, which on every wretched step, cracked a sharp biting thud as it struck the wooden deck leaving a trail of ash that smoked.. And in the dead of night, all but the sentinel were deep in slumber, with the sea at rest, and the sky full of stars that stirred like fireflies at the peak of summer….
 
..As the calm reached a deathly stillness, the silence could almost be heard, the man then arose, standing taller than his earlier, crooked self… he reached his arms up to the sky chanting a terrifying rant of almost unknown words, and slammed down his staff…. as the staff hit the deck, the wind began to gust and the waves began to surge hurling the ship and all its contents to and fro, and then the ashes that once fell from the staff, began to light up, like cinders fresh from a fire. The winds began to spiral spreading the now fiery cinders all around the ship, and the fires grew, burning all they touched... 

The people screamed and ran for their lives away from the flames, diving overboard grabbing all they could to keep them afloat, and the man, he stood taller, his shoulders back, conceited of his labours, his hood blew off, revealing a taint and twisted face, like that of a demon cast from the underworld to do nothing but wreak havoc on earth…. He continued to chant, his growling tones carried on the wind as if they were one…. And the fires burned, the winds gusted, and with an almighty crash a colossal wave smashed down on the deck breaking the ship into two throwing the last few on board into the deep, and then, and then it just stopped. The rains stopped. The wind halted. The waves were no more, and the fires were out. The seas were calm again… 

Wounded and discerning, the survivors began to clamber up that remaining of the ship, floating in the calm, clinging on for what remained of their lives, and in the distance, land……
But the man, the man was no more, the outlander was gone…….
