Conor Hamilton Announces brand new EP “Give it a Go” Out Dec 5th 2014 + Dublin date just announced: THE ACADEMY 2, DUBLIN, DEC 6TH

Conor Hamilton has just announced the release of his follow up EP ‘Give it a Go’ which precedes his May 2013 Single ‘Daydreamer’, which generated a strong word of mouth endorsement of his live shows in the local communities along with media appearances and a Top 20 Chart position.

Conor, who is now only 16, began playing guitar at the age of 7 and it was with a natural fond affinity for music and performing that lead him to further explore his creative side. After honing in his craft with music lessons and later with speech and drama, it seen him progress from small community gigs to sharing the centre stage with some of Irelands well known luminaries such as Damien Dempsey.

Once in the spot light, it wasn’t long before he moved onto other areas of the entertainment industry where he landed a role in RTE, Ireland’s national broadcasting Channel, as a presenter in Young Peoples department. He has presented/interviewed for them for 4 years roughly, and in that time he has interviewed stars such as Rizzle Kicks, Damien Dempsey, Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel to name but a few.

From performing on live Television, Radio and other media platforms to selling out the Academy recently in Dublin - it’s clear to see that this new release will further add to the stepping stone of his career.

‘You’ve got it in you’  and ‘Over Kill’ are two of the four leading tracks from the EP which was mixed and recorded by The Script’s music producer Mick Heffernan and is set to be released on the 5th of December. Conor will headline The Academy2 on the 6th of December and on the 7th will be supporting Damien Dempsey in concert.

Release Single: ‘Downtown” Featuring Petula Clark - Out Fri. Dec 16th
+ Irish dates announced!

The Saw Doctors have teamed up with the iconic Petula Clark to record a version of that legendary chanteuse’s ‘Downtown’. The song has been a live favourite in Saw Doctors’ shows for the past year and when the band asked Petula to re-record the vocal to her 1965 classic she was happy to comply.

If we think back to the popular culture of music in the 1960’s, there are a few songs that come to mind which are as relevant today as they were back then.  This Christmas, Ireland’s most loved household band ‘The Saw Doctors’ release their cover version of “Downtown”, the sensational pop song composed by Tony Hatch which was recorded and made an International hit by Petula Clark. At the time of its release in 1965, ‘Downtown’ sold three million copies, hitting the No.1 slot in the US and becoming the first of fifteen consecutive Top 40 hits for Petula across the pond. Petula subsequently won a Grammy for “Best Rock & Roll Record” for Downtown and in 2003 her recording of Downtown was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. She is still the best-selling female British solo artist of all time.

The cover version of Downtown by The Saw Doctors (out on Dec 16th 2011) features the wonderful voice of original singer Petula Clark. Their will also be an exclusive Music Video hosted on the Saw Doctors YouTube channel which will go live nearer to release date which also features Petula Clark. The video is produced and filmed by Eugene O Connor (Father Ted + Kilinascully) who originally filmed the video for their hit song I Uesta Lover. Petula also recently shot her parts for the song’s video in Paris.

In the past year, The Saw Doctors blazed back phoenix-like to their rightful place as one of the nation’s most-loved bands. In 2010, after the first week of ‘The Further Adventures of….’ album being released, it knocked off mercury winners The XX and Villagers from the No.1 position on the Indie Charts by coming straight in at No. 1! (It also came in at a No. 7 position on the mainstream charts and maintained a Top 10 position for over 6 weeks).

A vast list of Chart success on numerous songs over the years such as well known hits: “N17”, a cover of SUGABABES “About You Now”, (note that The Sugababes’ original version of About You Now stalled at No. 2 in the Irish Chart while The Saw Doctors reached No. 1!) and more recently the Christmas 2010 No. 1 acapella version of ‘Red Cortina’, have helped The Saw Doctors maintain their defiant musical stance on the Irish music scene.

The current lineup features:  Leo Moran (vocals, guitar), Davy Carton (vocals, guitar), Kevin Duffy (keyboards), Anthony Thistlethwaite (bass guitar, saxophone) and Eímhín Cradock (drums + vocals).

The Saw Doctors hit the headlines last week in UK newspapers and TV when it emerged that they had written a song about the new Irish president-elect Michael D. Higgins as long ago as 1994. The song entitled ‘Michael D. Rocking in the Dail’ (Irish parliament) appeared on the b-side of their single ‘Small Bit Of Love’ and heralded the appointment of the then newly elected Irish Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht.

The Barley Mob are a 7 piece group hailing from Ireland. Their collective influences have fused to create a fresh blend of uplifting music, embellished and delivered with equal measures of rock riffs, soulful melodies, folk jigs and infectious beats. Born from days of economic uncertainty and personal obstacles, The Barley Mob have set out to entertain, move and relate to their listeners. Through energetic and electric live shows they leave the crowds feeling as though they were involved in something special.
 
Anthems such as "Never be lost" and "Everybodys' Music" tell the story of the importance of music in our lives, while a crowd favourite and upcoming single, "Stand Up, Rise Up, Big Up", urges us all to stand up and be counted amongst our peers.
 
Since forming in April 2010, they have played over 300 gigs from the smallest snugs to illustrious festivals such as The Electric Picnic. Including winning international "Rising Stars 2010" as part of Dublin City Soul Festival where they played to over 6000 people in Merrion Square, Dublin. Every gig is a testament and endorsement to the band and has gained them many fans, and resulted in the band being described by the Irish Daily Star as "One of the tightest live bands on the circuit today" and “A ray of sunshine and an utterly brilliant live act” by Rte Radio 1’s Pat Kenny.
 
The band recently took time out in the studio to record their first album, due for release in early 2013. This complimented earlier success when the group won the International Dublin City Soul Festival "Rising Stars" competition just 3 months after they were formed. They have just announced over 15 tour dates Nationally throughout the summer months ahead.
