

Astronaut Music was founded in 2008 with the aim of showcasing a wide spectrum of dance music

and now on their sixth release, the label has stayed true to that promise. This Space Disco 2014 EP

features two fantastic remixes of Hungarian artist Godspeed by Solee and Oliver Schories. Both

tracks were previously released on other EPs back in 2011 but get a full re-issue here.

Solee has released under many different aliases since the nineties, has run his own respected label

and has graced the likes of Noir Music, Get Physical and John Digweed’s Bedrock. Hamburg’s Oliver

‘Stage Whisper’ (Solee Remix) is an electrifying bit of spine tingling house music designed for

maximum impact in a club’s main room. The rubbery, slick kick drums are the driving force of the

track as widescreen, deep space synths that stretch out in all directions. The subtle filters and pristine

production make this a magical cut that really sweeps you off your feet.

Next, ‘Astronaut Voices’ (Oliver Schories Remix) is just as studiously well crafted. It’s a more

sensitive affair to start with thanks to the serene string intro that sets an emotive tone, but then the

gallivanting kick drums land and the track accelerates through the galaxies. Pained vocals lurk in the

mix and add yet more depth to what is already an all-conquering house tune.

Once again here Astronaut Music has come up with some suitably terrific music for their 6th EP.

After serving up some killer original tracks from Obrotka, Abstract Music now enlists the services of Nikola Gala and 
Jay Bliss to rework one of the standout cuts. 
The results, invariably, are excellent. 

Obotka has been active since the 90s, has played almost every decent club in the world and because of his excellent discography taking in labels like Deeper Digital, Abstract Music and Wasabi is a revered part of the global dance community. 

First to remix his ‘Who Needs Enemies’ cut is Romanian 2020 Vision and All Inn records associate Jay Bliss. He flips the track into a deep, rubbery house groover with muted neon 
chords & crisp percussion.
It’s a no nonsense affair with infectious and icy hi hats that really get under your skin. 

Next up, Nikola Gala is a prolific producer whose impeccably produced tracks have become big releases for Ibadan Records, Rekids, Freerange Records and Plastic City. He serves up two remixes, the first of which is a Dubby Mix of ‘Who Needs Enemies.’ Stripping things back to an 
essential, locked on groove, hunched drums, rolling hits and frazzled synth lines all make for a seductive track that is warm and organic in all the right ways. 

Finally, Gala turns out a Techy Mix of the same track that is much quicker, more urgent and banging. Metallic chords, grinding bass and indecipherable vocal cries all characterise this more physical version and it will bang in clubs as a result.

All three remixes here offer something slightly different, but something equally essential, for all the real DJs out there.

Ever since 2008, Astronaut Music has been showcasing a wide spectrum of essential dance sounds and nowthey offer up another essential EP. 

This time it features an original by the Hungarian label boss himself, aka Norbert Obrotka, who has been DJing since the 90s and has had many club hits since, but the track is remixed by Chris Ronson and Petar Dundov. 

Petar Dundov goes first, he has been turning out killer techno for 15 years now, and does so on Music Man Records most often. His take on ‘Stage Whisper’ is full of fat, rasping bass and moody atmospheres. His well crafted melodies dangle in midway and add a real air of suspense and mystery to the groove. 

The second version is from a fellow Hungarian, Ronson who quickly shot up through the ranks. He has worked under different names before now but releases on labels like Creation Records, Fever Sound, Renaissance and more. His remix is a perfectly deep, seductive and supple one that is full of late night intrigue. His percussion is loose yet sharp, his drums fluid yet engaging, and overall the track is perfectly emotional and expertly serene. 

This is a brilliant and timeless release from an always on point label.

Astronaut Music welcomes Obrotka for a new track thatches backed with an excellent reshape from Vince Watson. The artist hails from Hungary and as well as his own radio show has played all over Europe. He has worked in record shops since the 90s, too, so has a fine knowledge of what it takes to make an essential track. 
His Taurus in Sevilla is an organic deep and dubby track for the heads. It has deft sound designs, loose percussion that is colourful and alive and great trumpet sounds. The whole thing makes you want to shake your body and get down. 
Scottish producer Vince Watson then remixes and strips things back so that the groove is more prominent. The resulting drums roll on and on and embellished with great synths, magical chords and overall has a spine tingling atmosphere that is richly detail and truly emotional.

Abstract Music was founded in 2010 as a sub label of Budapest based Astronaut Music. The label kicked off with a release Obrotka backed with a remix from Jay Bliss that received critical acclaim and broad DJ support. Now Obotka is back on Abstract with a brand new single of quality house music entitled ‘Diablo’.

The single kicks off with a remix of ‘Diablo’ from Cre8tion Records boss and respected Hungarian producer Chriss Ronson. Ronson delivers a bumpin’, bass driven house groove, built around tightly edited vocal snippets, shuffling percussion and sweeping delays; this is heads down peak time house music, beautifully produced and perfectly delivered. Next up we have Negru at the controls, dropping an intense and insistent house mix that develops a hypnotic groove and rides it from beginning to end, quality stuff.
