A Mouthful

A lesson of loss is central to “Death of Dog”, a piano-driven remembrance of songwriter Oliver Kalb’s late dog, Lou. But the song is no dirge—its bright melody and Len-inspired second verse evoke an autumnal luminescence, treading a line between deep sorrow and upbeat pop propulsion. This juxtaposition of sorrow and bright determination is central to the song’s lyrics: how can we doggedly continue in our lives knowing the things we love can be taken away from us? Written after a series of difficult losses, the song finds Kalb with a renewed appreciation for life in the face of hardship, freshly emboldened to move through the world with a loosened grip on life: “I’m not its master, I give up the fight, I want no claim,” Kalb declares. Another Michael’s Alenni Davis offers commanding duet vocals, adding dimension to “Death of Dog” with fierce harmonies that counter Kalb’s gossamer voice.

As well as the previous one, i wasn't able to finish this track as my apartment was burglarised on October 2020.
Around July 2020, i've randomly sent some music to a dear friend of mine: Simon Heah, because he wanted to hear it.
Here is what's left, as well as other lo-fi recordings that i will only share on Soundcloud.
The thieves stole my musical equipment, my computer and the usbs where i kept the projects at the time, gladly i was able to send some audio files to Simon.
There is no reason for me to holding on to it, so here it is...

Sprinkle was recorded mainly around March of 2020, in my home studio.
