Jazz Test 1

This is a tribute to those nights, 20 years or so ago, chilling in basements. This is downtempo that feels deep, enchanting, sexy, intoxicating. You drift off on it, unaware that you’re sinking in. You close your eyes not to rest, but because you want to feel the music more. It’s more than just relaxing, it makes your soul feel like it’s in a recliner. 

This is a mix I had just started to conceive when I stopped into Bad Eyes Gallery for the first time to check out the new space. It seemed like kismet when I overheard Josef talking about his love of trip-hop. A couple of inquiries later and pushing down that little voice in my head, I managed to get my first show booked. It was a great afternoon and super fun to see some familiar faces in the crowd. I’m happy to say this is recorded live from the floor with but a wee technical edit. I was super stoked to be able to play in public for the first time and I can’t wait for the next one. If you ever hung out in my house in high school or shortly thereafter, you’ll know the feeling. Throw it on in the background while you’re hanging with some friends, or listen closely to the groove, but I’d love to know what you think.
