With their new compilation EP, the Berlin-based label Burlesque Musique not only underscores their status as a hedonistic home for harmony and melody-driven tracks – the four new tracks give an outlook what can be expected by AKA AKA and their friends in the near future. Not only old acquaintances are bustled, but also new talents appear that the label pulled out of the hat pretty naturally. 

The Italian producer Giorgia Angiuli was not only part of the „We Love“ project of BPitch Control, as a resident DJ for Florentine Tenax Club 1.0 she knows the ingredients of a good track. Her „Magic Circle“ revolves with simmering synths at the beginning, which fascinate from the very first second. Her manipulated voice in combination with an inimitable tech house groove sprays an airy magic that reflects her live passion with keyboards and many other toys pretty good. After their impressive „Somebody EP“, the duo Kyrill & Redford return with a new jewel: „Pussy Truck“ lives from both a feisty percussion that drives the piece forward as well as a subtle bass line that perform a seductive mating dance. The prayer-like vocals constitute a powerful ritual addressing desire, love and hope. After releases on Stil vor Talent and Circat, the Berlin-based Erich Lesovsky debuts with his track „Weirdo“ on Burlesque Musique. With contributed vocals by singer Rita, the DJ and producer discusses the ambivalence of our heart, because everybody knows: emotions can by very contradictory from time to time. However, because of the deep character „Weirdo“ symbolizes thoughtfulness at a very high level. The Dutchman Formel integrates not only field recordings with children’s voices; „Jaipur“ is a true gem consisting of claps, bass and dreamy piano chords. All killer, no filler!

Born  in  Sao  Paulo  to  a  deeply  religious  family, Laercio  has  been  around  music  all  his  life  -  amidst the  challenges  of  daily  life,  his  adventist  parents would whip out all sorts of instruments whenever the situation  would  allow  it,  introducing  a  young  and curious    mind    to    a    wide    range    of    musical expressions.  It  should  come  as  no  surprise,  then, that  our  hero  quickly  felt  at  home  with  notes  and bars, choosing the flute as his first weapon of choice which he eagerly studied from the age of seven.  Even   later   non-musical   career   choices   always reflected an infatuation with the world of sounds, like his  stint  as  a  capoeira  teacher,  combining  martial arts, acrobatics and dance. With  such  a  multi-faceted  background  in  music,  the inevitable   tinkering   with   synthesizers   and   other means  of  electronic  sound  generation  was  rather  a question  of  time  than  one  of  ambition,  and  sure enough  we  find  Laercio  roaming  the  parties  of  the mid-noughties,  absorbing  the  unique  melange  of styles and scales that inform club culture to this day.  In stark contrast to most other rave inductees at the time, however, he never wanted to become a DJ: his area   of   expertise   is   the   performance,   not   the collecting  and  curating  of  other  people's  releases, and  it  shows  in  the  unusual  fact  that  Laercio  has held club residencies as a live electronic musician in venues  like  Sao Paulo's  D-Edge  without  ever  so much as touching a record. In  these  release  L_cio  has  worked  with  D.O.C. mastermind  Gui  Boratto.  and  the  result  is  music  for the dancefloor.

Get Physical Presents: Cocada is a brand new compilation put together in cooperation with the Brazil Music Conference, and is compiled and mixed by local and long time star Leo Janeiro. All bar one of the 14 tracks is exclusive, and all come from exciting Brazilian talents, making for a great window into the scene.

‘Cocada’ is a word that evokes strong childhood memories for all Brazilians. It is a delicious coconut sweet which, says the label, “is a little surprise in the middle of an ordinary day that makes you appreciate all the good things of Brazil.” As such, it is a perfect name for this selection which features tracks from big and emerging names alike.

“Under the name Cocada we’ll be launching music and organizing workshops and parties, in order to bring greater visibility to the electronic music being produced in Brazil and throughout Latin
America”, says Get Physical’s managing director Roland Leesker.

“Our desire is to create an international platform both for emerging underground producers and well-known artists,” A&R manager Matt Plessis adds. “Cocada is very sweet and we want to give the world an opportunity to taste some of those powerful delights that have been produced in Brazil,”.

Among the album’s more established producers is HNQO, who runs the Playperview label and has released on Hot Creations. His track ‘Sorrow’ is a moody cut with a shapeshifting lead synth that brings a zoned out feel. Another big hitter is Renato Ratier, the owner of celebrated Brazilian clubs D Edge and Warung, resident at the former and globe trotting DJ who has put out a couple of well
received albums. His ‘Snapshots’ is a track with brilliantly rumbling bass and starry night skies as well as dubby chords that get you on your toes.

First out of the blocks is Hauy with the superbly languid and elastic deep house of ‘Redpath’ featuring gently undulating synths and rolling drums. The man behind the mix then serves up ‘Blaze’ with Mumbaata, and it’s a tight, upright bit of melodic house with loose drums that reflect Brazil’s rich musical heritage. Well-crafted melodic vibes are the backbone of this collection, with the likes of Lacozta, Albuquerque’s remix of ‘Hierbas’ and Andre Salata & Mumbaata’s ‘BR-116’ all offering nicely atmospheric, warm house grooves with big, sweeping melodies and poised chords that add plenty of colour and majesty to the music. 

Bruce Leroys picks up the pace with his more edgy and driving tech cut ‘Rev Is Out’ and things get all trippy and spaced out on the hypnotic ‘Raizes’ by Nuno Deconto. This is a compelling selection of tracks that show that Brazil is a real hot bed of talent going into
2018, and Get Physical knows exactly where to find it.

DOC Records welcomes L_cio for a beautiful full length album entitled ‘Poema’.

L_cio is a Brazilian artist who brings his own flute playing to his music. He has previously collaborated with the likes of Portable on the huge hit ‘Surrender’ and is a live act who has held residencies at plenty of key clubs in Brazil. He’s also toured all over the world from Egg London to Robert Johnson in Frankfurt and released on labels like Perlon, Soul Clap Records and D Edge. His eight track album is an emotive affair with deep house grooves embellished with his own spine tingling instrumentals and flute.

Paqe kicks things off with five minutes of spring time sounds and fluttering flutes that carry you off into clear blue skies. Canto is more driving, with crisp drums and synth stabs all getting you into a groove. Forte then drops into techno mood with powerful kicks and busy snares then Complet re-sets with two minutes of blissful flute lead ambience that is utterly calming.

Poema is another beautiful interlude with floating synths and shimmering synths and Avante brings back house drums with dramatic synths and icy hi hats. Canto again blesses you out with more exquisite flutes and some melancholic organ work and closer Lagoa is a dreamy track with animal sounds, flutes and languid chords all encouraging you to get horizontal. .

Continuously growing serious followers, L_cio live performances and recent releases on DOC Records (‘Chico Buarque Construção Revisited’; ‘Vazio’; ‘Traffic’; ‘People Talk’; ‘Schwantes’), will definitely secure a major place in the realm of electronic music.

Beautifully crafted in collaboration of DOC Records label boss Gui Boratto, ‘Poema’ is a truly unique album that showcases L_cio’s truly uniquess and magical sound.
