If anyone asks what is the fundamental raw material worked by the artisans we celebrate through this series, many answers may come to mind. After all, there are plenty of elements at play right at the center of that rich universe of interactions conjured between a DJ, the music and the crowd, all of them personally felt, collectively shared and universally understood. But, if we had to choose just one, it’d certainly be that very elusive yet quite tangible thing we call ‘groove’, the quintessential force that puts everything in motion within that interplay. It is also the substance that feeds this space so it can provide a platform for those who excel in its mastery as well as a place where everyone could enjoy its energy. The same a young talent such as Fruno manipulates with both care and flare to create situations where its power can be experienced in all its glory. Hailing from one of those idyllic spots that punctuate the vast Brasilian coast and honing his skills in the hedonistic dancefloors of the Southernmost parts of its shore, he carved his place as one of the most reliable selectors in the region by delivering sets brimming with that elemental force, much in a similar way as he keeps it flowing constantly throughout a mix that runs hectic in its pace, eclectic in its parts and ecstatic in its mood. At the end, what we have is yet another stellar example of the kind of excellence in the craft of making people dance that we are happy to enshrine here on a regular basis.
