Pablo is part of the @pachangadjs collective, a multi sided crew, who kind of looks like us hehe 🫂, Djs, Diggers, behind a really nice YT channel & promoters in Madrid, they are the young generation of the Spanish capital’s « underground ». We met him during our time in Madrid last year, around a mad gig in Malasana with Pascal, we stayed in touch, sending regularly musical discoveries to each other 🤍🎶

This episode is a well balanced mix between the prog vibe we cherish and his iberian influences. Really happy to share it with you today ⚡️

Among the many reasons why we convene In this place of aural sharing, loving and enjoying, having new guests to showcase their gifts is obviously the main one. We prize in bringing people from all over this vast world of musical wonder in which we all dwell to the attention of an audience that might be far away or close by, but one that relies on our steady offering of delightfully diverse sounds. It is by bridging this gap that this space finds its purpose, by joining the eagerness of everyone involved: from the avid listeners and dancers to the dedicated selectors. Offering this opportunity for both to meet and delight, enriching each other in the process, is what motivates us to keep doing it and every episode presents a renewed vow to that noble effort and everyone that takes part in it. Artists as devoted as Foie Gras, who helms this episode, vividly represent this commitment, not only for being the type of gifted player we love to have, but also one that shares this sense of mission in all of his projects. Platforms such as Pachanga, a haven for lovers of rhythms from varied parts of the timespace continuum of global dance music whose curatorial wealth is much the brainchild of its creator as it is the fruit of the dedication of its many contributors. And the common thread that runs through all of our endeavours is the result of the same labour of love, one that makes more than likeminded folks pursuing a similar goal, it makes us kindred spirits with a common mission.

There are only a few (original) Berlin house and techno labels and producers who have been around since the nineties and who can justifiably be described as still relevant and active - even in an international context - and certainly as something of a legend.

Basic Channel and their ilk are certainly among them, as is CABINET RECORDS - and Daniel Paul from Cabinet (and Cab Drivers) is my guest today.

Instead of recording a mix for me and sending it to me, it quickly developed into a little vinyl jam session here in my home studio, which means that we are both represented in the mix to about 50%, back 2 back as they say. Enjoy!

Hedonism is something that can be understood at many levels of our mundane existence. As a personal stance, it can help us navigate the sensorial maze of the world around us by setting a course towards seizing life and its delights. As a collective ideal, it provides a shared purpose in seeking pleasure, which can be a strong communal bond. Nevertheless, it is both a driving force and a guiding principle for us to do what we love most, alone or together. And nothing in the brief history of our species on this planet has shown to be a better catalyst for it than the power of organised sounds. Music can entice feelings and excite thoughts, but its ability to bring us to ecstatic states and keep us there is why its role is so central to our core concept here. Even more so, because it operates beyond and beneath time, as its effects over us manage to accelerate, slow or even suspend our perception of it altogether. Musical enjoyment, thus, defies temporal forces, bending them in our experience, a phenomenon that our current guest knows quite well, even bringing it to the fore with his very moniker. 1Night Only practice is one of crafting sets of concentrated energy that seize the moment and the momentum therein to create effusive journeys relying on an extensive knowledge of the material he manipulates. A talent he puts to work in manifold ways, through platforms such as Pachanga and Red Sofa Radio or in mixes such as the one we present here, all connected by a common thread of sheer passion and intent.
