En esta nueva entrega de la serie Fun Fun Mix presentamos a Perla, destacada dj de la escena underground de Lima, Perú. Es conocida por sus eclécticas sesiones como residente del colectivo @casalocasa y residente de Ritmica Paraiso. Principalmente, su gusto es la interpretación latina de la música electrónica, con una sólida base en el house y el disco; ambos géneros los integra en sus mezclas con dark disco, E.B.M, darkwave y hasta tintes techno, siempre dándole su toque oscuro, donde también presentan percusiones tribales en todas sus facetas. Timelines can be fascinating tools, liberating and limiting in similar ways, depending on how we use them. Some prefer to see them as axes of solid logic underpinning a steady sequence of developments, but maybe that they are better understood (and used) as guiding principles that enable us to navigate the manifold trends and myriad genres that make up the history of this beloved artform we celebrate here on a regular basis. More orientational resources than mapping tools, they help us establish itineraries amid the gargantuan diversity that the aural wealth we encounter across the worlds we explore. Likewise, genres are much more useful (and meaningful) while deemed as abstract places rather than actual actual locations, providing spaces for approximation and elements for permutation so we can create our own intersections. So, when we come across such a straightforward name as the one that graces the project bny our guests for this episode, we know that we are presented with more than a style or a statement, we are gifted with a range of possibilities encapsulated in the space between both musical realities, both joined by a labour of love that originates in the love for each other and the music that bonds them. It is exactly this overpouring of feelings, the overpowering energy that runs through it and between these two magnificent selectors, that make this mix so special.

Metaphors related to energy are common currency among those who try to render into words the manifold dynamics that take place on a dancefloor. They are useful symbolic tools that offer both a fair appreciation of the exchanges between the people involved and an accurate depiction of the forces at play. And, if we consider how much sonic and affective power fill up those places in every dimension imaginable whenever the music starts playing, we quickly realise it is all about the circulation of waves across the space and through everyone, flowing constantly between generation and conversion and manifesting itself in motion and emotion. The dynamics at play are not as intricate as they are delicate, relying more on harmony and intensity than balance and precision, and the proper handling of these delicate parameters demands the type of sensibility that our current guest shows at every opportunity she has, be it online or offline, as their deep heat does not dissipate. Sol’s sets radiate in splendorous ways, emitting joy and conserving excitement in equal measures, while manipulating warmth and molding moods for maximum enjoyment. And that’s exactly what we have here.

Richard Fribert and Gabriel Badwan presents a ride into completely unknown music territory, filled with their gems from the 80s-90s music, from Brazil and beyond. Parisian based Swedish DJ Richard and Curitiba based Gabriel shares a passion for unearthing yet unheard of music from the depths of the music vaults, and this mix is no exception. Together they form an explosive duo filled with both mad music and a highly positive contagious energy that defies the conventional and everything mainstream.

Sometimes we happen to take some of the fundamental aspects that guide our main mission for which this platform is a crucial resource for granted, even if we never underestimate their place in what makes it something singular amid the multitude of similar content that can be found online. Take eclecticism for example, a quintessential characteristic of every single contribution to the series and an overall quality that is pursued by each of the guests we have in the construction of their deeply personal musical narratives. Not a mean feat, if we take into account the sheer diversity of rhythmic patterns and harmonic structures involved that need to be concatenated cohesively or, at the very least, sequenced harmoniously to be able to engulf us in its motional thrust and emotional pull. The greatness of all the mixes featured in this collection lies in the fact that they rely mostly on both a delicate play of moods and an intricate balance of forces, managing to harness their energy and use it towards stimulating our bodies, exciting our senses, enticing our minds and warming our hearts in the process. Depois de muito procurar, encontramos 10 das 14h gravadas do nosso set em um pen drive que estava perdido por aí. Dividimos o set em 3 partes e esta é a primeira delas, começando o que foi uma das nossas festas mais especiais, o carnaval desse ano aqui em SP. Nesse dia teve de tudo, chuva, suor, glitter e um mar de gente feliz trouxe pra pista uma energia única. Esse set com certeza ficou marcado para gente esperamos que vocês também curtam ele.
