Home can be anywhere, but what turns any place into that special space is how it makes us feel. Being at home brings solace, being far from it produces longing and both these affective powers work as gravitational forces, binding us not only to a certain location but to the environment fostered therein. Not every house becomes a home as much as not every home is necessarily a house, but if we are talking about that House that Frankie helped name and shape, the same one whose words became hymns are still sung at every corner of the globe and whose grooves took the world by storm, we can see how a sound can turn any dancefloor into a shelter. House, the music and its message, conjures a home for all of those willing to follow its mandates of maximum corporeal expression, deep emotional investment and expansive mental openness anywhere, as long there’s means to propagate it and people to enjoy it. It is this radical inclusive potential that makes an encounter such as the one in this episode not only possible, but truly magical: an Australian duo playing House from all over reaching a global audience through a platform created by a Brasilian crew. The result can be thoroughly enjoyed in this spectacular instalment of Gop Cast graced with a wonderful contribution by these bold selectors from Down Under known as Donald’s House.

Metaphors related to energy are common currency among those who try to render into words the manifold dynamics that take place on a dancefloor. They are useful symbolic tools that offer both a fair appreciation of the exchanges between the people involved and an accurate depiction of the forces at play. Sometimes we happen to take some of the fundamental aspects that guide our main mission for which this platform is a crucial resource for granted, even if we never underestimate their place in what makes it something singular amid the multitude of similar content that can be found online. Take eclecticism for example, a quintessential characteristic of every single contribution to the series and an overall quality that is pursued by each of the guests we have in the construction of their deeply personal musical narratives. Not a mean feat, if we take into account the sheer diversity of rhythmic patterns and harmonic structures involved that need to be concatenated cohesively or, at the very least, sequenced harmoniously to be able to engulf us in its motional thrust and emotional pull. The greatness of all the mixes featured in this collection lies in the fact that they rely mostly on both a delicate play of moods and an intricate balance of forces, managing to harness their energy and use it towards stimulating our bodies, exciting our senses, enticing our minds and warming our hearts in the process. Part two of RA.999: two NYC Downlow favourites go back-to-back for the first time with a jubilant homage to classic house.

The RA Podcast launched 19 years ago in 2006, making it one of the world's longest-running online mix series. As we gear up to celebrate the 1,000th episode, RA.999 lands with five mixes across five days with a cohort of artists who've left a singular mark on electronic music over the past few decades. The chemistry and legacy of these duos make for something very special—and worthy of such a huge milestone.

First up was 1morning and Regal86 with a live recording from New York's Bossa Nova. Next up? We move to NYC Downlow, and who better to capture Glastonbury's beloved queer utopia than Prosumer and Peach, going back-to-back for the first time.

If house is your thing, then Prosumer and Peach going one-for-one on the decks is nothing short of a treat. With Glastonbury still just about in the rearview mirror, this mix captures the spirit of NYC Downlow. If you're familiar, you'll know this means steamy euphoria all-night long, sweat dripping from the ceiling and an intoxicating feeling in the humid air.

And Prosumer is a true Downlow darling—a treasured custodian and storyteller of dance music who delivered his first RA Podcast way back in 2007. "If a record doesn't move me emotionally or physically, I won't play it out," he said at the time, befitting of the impeccable curation and irresistible body groove that became his trademarks. He is, in the words of the Johnny Dangerous track in the mix, the "King of Clubs."

For Peach, RA.999 marks a full-circle moment: Prosumer's 2019 closing set in the Downlow is one of her all-time Glastonbury memories. Since her first RA Podcast in 2021, the London-based artist has only grown more in-demand, with sets that typically traverse the house and techno lexicon—and occasionally R&B—with a distinctly peppy energy. "Neither of us are afraid to go deep," she said about playing with Prosumer. "We just had fun with it."
