These are words that we often use to assign a place in the lore or to evaluate the contribution of certain characters whose roles were essential in the making of our culture. People who went to great lengths to help build what we hold in the highest regard or simply were at the right place and right time to lay its foundations. Their efforts lie at the heart of scenes and at the beginning of entire musical genres, since they blaze trails and pave ways so future generations can discover new worlds, even if it means sacrifice. Accomplishing these noble tasks cement the presence of these figures in the collective memory, and such is the indelible position of our current guest in the history of his hometown’s nightlife. A mainstay of Sao Paulo’s electronic music for more than three decades, Mau Mau helped shape it from its glorious seminal days up till the bountiful and vibrant moment where it finds itself right now. A harbinger of most things Techno that blossomed in the city and the country at large, he’s a master in the art of groove interlacing and boundary bending, crafting exhilarating sets that are irresistibly danceable and irreproachably approachable. Rafael Capetini is traveling without moving. Barangandão is the name of a toy of African origin used in dances that blend the artist's exploration of psychedelia found in the drumming of Carnival with the bittersweet feeling that is neither happy nor sad, embodying the essence of the word "saudade," which is challenging to explain to foreigners.

As a DJ, he is well-known for his unique mix, blending rhythms from different continents (and new to whom?). Mixing with the lowest frequencies of the spectrum and inviting you to the cavernous school of Dub, Capetini manages, with this single, to create a new business card that showcases all of its culture and originality. With each passing day, the boundaries between their sets and productions become more blurred. With “Barangandã,” the distinction between play and toy is also set aside, both on and off the dance floor.
