This song is based on Isaiah 9.2 which predicts the arrival of the Messiah (Christ).

"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned."

This verse is also used in the Gospels to prove that Jesus is the promised Messiah.

Jesus commands us to show compassion to everyone, especially the marginalised and unwanted. He was, Himself, a refugee when His parents had to flee to Egypt and He ate and drank with 'sinners' and 'undesirables'.  Jesus said,

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

Jesus Was A Refugee.

This is a simple love song extoling the virtues of someone you're in love with.

This song is based on Romans 4:25 in the Bible, "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."
You can't earn your way into Heaven. Jesus died and was raised again to make us right with God. He was delivered unto death so that we could be delivered from death.

My dad would always say "It doesn't pay to be honest" when he saw someone prosper by cheating so I wrote a song about him with that saying as the hook line.
