We welcome Peter Makto for the ninety-eighth edition of the 'Deep In Mix' series.  

Originally from a small town in western Hungary, Péter Szigeti, known by his alias Peter Makto, now resides in Budapest- a city whose dynamic energy mirrors his three-decade journey in electronic music. Anchored in House music, Peter’s career reflects his devotion to continuity, storytelling, and musical metamorphosis, with music serving as his sanctuary since childhood. His musical exploration took a profound turn when a DJ mix introduced him to electronic music, sparking a lifelong emotional storytelling journey through mixing.

Peter’s sound embodies the spirit of House’s 1990s revolution, rooted in the genre’s timeless rhythms. His DJ sets unfold as seamless stories woven through meticulous transitions. “For me, music is a reflection of personal change,” Peter explains. “I move through deeper, darker states toward joy, just as in life.”

Peter finds his truest expression within the hallowed walls of legendary clubs, which he regards as 'cultural temples' of the scene. His defining performances include sets at the Ministry of Sound in London, Kater Blau in Berlin, Fabrik in Madrid, and Hive in Zurich. From Miami’s Treehouse to Destino Ibiza, his global journey spans iconic cities like Zurich, Cairo, Bogotá, and Karachi. Performing at the esteemed KAZANTIP Music Republic on two occasions has left an indelible mark on him, defining some of the most unique experiences of his life.

Peter’s sound is a product of decades of influence, with early inspiration from legends like Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sasha, and John Digweed, and modern muses like Bedouin and WhoMadeWho guiding his evolution. He has released music on some prominent imprints like The Soundgarden, Mango Alley, Hoomidaas, Tale & Tone, Where The Heart Is and Circle Of Life to name a few. Currently focused on developing his label, Zenebona Records, his upcoming releases include a collaborative remix for Nick Varon and an original track featuring remixes by Matthew Sona and Liozen.

Peter’s podcasts and mixes reveal immersive journeys that evolve from introspective depths to euphoric highs. His mixes resist flashy gimmicks and quick transitions, emphasizing seamless flow and deeper resonance. “I mix for longer than most because transitions matter,” he reflects. “I want to guide listeners through emotional states, always ending in a lighter, happier place.” At 47, Peter Makto is a seasoned curator, blending experiences with explorations.
