Our next down.cast was mixed by our dutch friend @rozeofc. In the last few months he has been releasing one banger after another and we are very happy that he is now part of the down. family.

His productions are characterized by pushing basslines, perfectly rounded off with unique synth elements that make every sound system glow.

If you listen carefully, you will already find the two original tracks in his set, which he will release on our label at the beginning of July. As always, we hope you enjoy listening.

Unsere Nr. 237 kommt heute von einem Tübinger Downtempo Projekt welches mir bereits seit einiger Zeit bekannt ist und mich immer wieder fasziniert. Ihren Sound beschreiben die beiden als detailverliebt, faserig, zerfranst & zugenäht, mal warm und flauschiger, mal düster und treibend - immer mit Attitüde und Gefühl. Dieses spiegelt sich sowohl in ihren Mixen, DJ-Sets und Produktionen wieder. 

Die Rede ist von Überhaupt & Außerdem aka Andi und Philipp. Zwei sau sympathische Kerle mit der gewissen Würze in ihrem Soundverständnis. Beim Hören bleibt eigentlich nie ein Bein ruhig stehen. Ganz im Gegenteil, dezent, aber mit einer gewissen Verbindlichkeit entführen sie jeden Hörer klammheimlich auf die Tanzfläche. Und dort angekommen macht man es sich auch schnell gemütlich. Dazu passt ihre Musik ganz wunderbar. Ganz nebenbei haben sich die beiden in all den Jahren auch zu spannenden Produzenten gemausert. Bisher erschienen einige Perlen auf Underyourskin, Akumandra, Heimlich Musik, Magician on Duty, Akasha MX und vielen weiteren. Tendenz steigend. Nicht von ungefähr haben wir auf unser Seite auch bereits einige Produktionen von den Beiden premiert.

Ihr für uns aufgenommenes Set hat mich direkt von Anfang an abgeholt. Der Beat, die Flächen und die spannende Stimmung entführen einen definitiv ohne Umwege aus dem Alltag hin zu einer sonnigen Tanzwiese im wunderschönen Grün. Dabei bewegen sie sich gekonnt irgendwo zwischen Tanz und Traum, Druck und Leichtigkeit, aber alles mit einer positiven Aura versehen. Sie selber geben an, dass ihre Aufnahme eine Mischung aus „ […] Schmusig- und Kratzbürstigkeit“ ist. Das trifft den Nagel auf den Kopf. Ihr Mix besteht ganz Nebenbei im wesentlichen aus eigenen Produktionen aus dem Bereich des Mid- und Downtempos. Wer sie nicht kennt, muss dies schleunigst nachholen. Es lohnt sich.´, wie der Mix auf Beste beweißt.

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. Keine Phrase, keine Fake-News, sondern ehrliche Worte eines musikverliebten Spessarters.

Ich danke euch vielmals Andi und Philipp für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend tagtraumtanzbar und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus? 
Große Emotions, aber auch gerne schonmal auch bitte etwas dirty hier und da. Ansonsten schunkelige Stimmung, die nötige Portion Gaga mit stets bemühter Peilung auf die Fassong.

Gleich und gleich gesellt sich gern: Sowohl Sandro Schäufler als auch Marcel Schulz stammen ursprünglich aus dem schönen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Nachdem sie den Namen Kollektiv Ost gegen Ende 2003 zunächst als Synonym für untergründige Tanzvergnügungen nutzen, steht er heute für die musikalische Wochenendbeziehung der beiden. „Wochenendbeziehung“ deshalb, weil es Marcel schon vor einiger Zeit in die deutsche Hauptstadt zog. Erst nach über 15 Jahren baute er dort seine Zelte wieder ab und kehrte zurück ins beschauliche Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, während Sandro nach wie vor in seiner Heimat verweilt.

Die Zusammenkünfte der musikalischen Wochenendbeziehung finden übrigens meist in Clubs oder auf Festivals statt, wo ihre musikalischen Ergüsse auf der Tanzfläche regelmäßig für Furore sorgen. Veröffentlichungen auf Katermukke, Bar25, Dantze oder 3000Grad gehören außerdem zu Ihrem Schaffen.

In his own words:

Rumours have it that he escaped from a confetti factory in some faraway place, and that he was on the road with a flea circus afterwards. That would explain why all those sepia-coloured scenes from exotic places appear before the inner eye of his listeners: With the steady, hypnotic rattle of a steam train in the background, they show sequences from Middle East, South America, India, and from the infinite realms of Inner Space. 

It's this organic amalgamation of traditional, hand-played music and the digital functionality of House beats that makes Timboletti a very special DJ and producer.

What comes after the horizon? Four of Roderic’s fellow musicians remix his 2021 Horizon EP on this release. It starts with a 'Mu': a calm and peaceful remix penned by Iorie. He slows down the tempo, alienates sounds, and adds his familiar voice. Number two is Sascha Cawa’s energetic recyclage of 'Recycle' – how could it not sound like rusty iron blasts? Sebo remixes the title track 'Horizon', adding shakes, base, snare drum, and touching the wave. Finally, Amount also takes on 'Mu', twisting it into an ultra-slow technoid dance banger that resonates long after.

Betäubt

Der Schmerz zieht dumpf und pochend durch meinen Körper. Vom Rumpf aufwärts pirscht er sich unaufhaltsam, wie ein Raubtier auf der Jagd, durch meine Nervenbahnen und schüttelt mich von Zeit zu Zeit kräftig durch. Ich bin kaum noch handlungsfähig. Die Tabletten haben mich meinen klaren Geist und meine Willensstärke gekostet. Im Gegenzug haben sie einen Großteil der Schmerzen genommen. Alles in allem ein fairer Handel. Denn wenn ich ganz ehrlich zu mir selbst bin, hat der Schmerz meinen Verstand sowieso bereits umnachtet. 
Nun liege ich einfach nur da, starre aus dem Fenster auf einen blass 
roten Abendhimmel und denke an nichts. Meine Sinne sind betäubt und meine Gefühle abgeflacht. Manchmal ist der schnellste Weg auch der beste. 

KlangDruide führt uns im heutigen Podcast auf eine wohltuende, musikalische Reise zur Entspannung und Regeneration. Die ausgewählten Musikstücke wabern förmlich durch den Raum und erfüllen die potenzielle Stille mit Leben. Die Synths, Percussions und sonstigen Sounds fliegen ungebändigt und freigeistig umher. Jedoch findet jedes Instrument auf magische Weise seinen Platz und die 77 Minuten werden zu einem Hochgenuss der elektronischen Musikalität.

Bei dieser sonntags Spezialausgabe des KataHaifisch Podcasts handelt es sich um einen Livemitschnitt aus dem Katerblau. Der Erschaffer dieses Sets und jedes einzelnen Tracks darin ist Christian Hülshoff. In liebevoller Handarbeit wurden die selbstproduzierten Songs vor den Augen und Ohren der Katerblau-Crowd in ein Liveset verwoben. Dabei ist die Atmosphäre sowohl entspannt, als auch treibend zugleich. Man verliert sich nur all zu leicht in den mystisch anmutenden Klängen und die Grenzen zwischen Zeit & Raum verschwimmen. 
Christian Hülshoff trifft mit diesem Set wieder einmal voll ins schwarze. Er bleibt seiner Linie treu und entwickelt sich dennoch stetig weiter. Sein einzigartiger Sound ist mitreißend und eignet sich ideal zum tanzen.

Here is my set from the LAS festival last Friday July 1.
Alongside Kora, Riyoon, Kapoor, Avem, Tanga Elektra, Arutani and many more on the Flow Tent Stage.

I just say from 35 to 9 degrees...hehe.
And this wide range of temperatures, which reflects the massive drop in it that happened so rapidly, is for me a lovely correlation to all the colorful, warm and wonderful spectrum of emotions and moments that I was able to experience at this amazing festival. I would like to thank here & now all contributors, dancers, supporters and resonating beings so much. But especially thanks from the bottom of my heart to Rosi, Mateusz, Seb, Mitch & Jago as well as Kora, Riyoon & Kapoor. <3

Life is intense and we should enjoy every moment.
