A'riel - Pluralistic Ignorance

Audio works developed as part of Water Bodies exhibition, Catalyst Arts Belfast, August 6th - September 5th 2020.

The sound work for Water Bodies comprises of two main spatialized audio tracks, playing across the exhibition space.  

One of these audio works comprises of manipulated vocal recordings, positioned above the water pools in the exhibition space. These vocal recordings comprise of organised notes on conversations held between the artists over the a series of online calls.  

The other audio work played across the room through two large monitors was composed using various instruments, relating to both body and water. Recordings of wine glasses, each holding different volumes of water, are woven together along with the sounds of pouring water between the glasses. Blowing across bottles of water creates the sound of distant fog horns in the second half of the composition. The piece ends with a series of vocal harmonies, which emerge and disappear in waves, anchored by the comforting whirring of a faraway de-humidifier.  Harmony and unison collapsing and ascending.. Moments of comfort and discomfort.. Of seeking and finding.

A new event in the Field Recording Labs series for sound artists and musicians working with the sounds of the environments. The third release of the Laboratory is an expedition to a fishing village on the shores of the Barents Sea from February 3 to 5, 2020. The sounds of the endless Arctic space and the whisper of the tundra at the edge of the Earth in front of the Arctic Ocean.

Currently living in Loguivy (Bretagne, France) and waiting for le chômdu, Léo is a long-time friend of the OKVLT family.
Always cracking the pot together in the back-alleys of Tréguier, we're glad to introduce his first track ever "Cloak & Dagger" as Gouren on our compilation.
Let's dive in the bassy swamps of Trégor for 48 minutes.

A compilation to celebrate the first year of activity… not an easy task: too young to have a clearly defined personality and too old not to have one.

Lots of thoughts crossed our minds, mainly revolving all around the same question: should we try to do something different? And lots of advice came our way: you should! You must! You need to! Let me show you how things are done!

So, this one is not only a combined action taken in Commando Vanessa style, but also a reaction.

We are not looking to be different, we just want to embrace differences.

That’s why this is what it is: a diverse, colorful, exaggerated, intimate, political, sexy compilation.

Just a flow of different music we like.

HHH is a new series of releases on Carpaccio Cathedrale coming from a residency called Hitchhiker. ⒽⒽⒽ residencies was created by Encastrable, an art duo who is part of Carpaccio.

The guest artist for HHH #3 is @lasalegarce who is artist and musician performer and singer base in Marseille. He is also member of @southfrapalliance and a lot of really good shit on the WWW.

The idea of HHH is simple: to invite an artist for a road trip by car, van or camping car, to produce music.
It's a great excuse to look for and create new forms with the guest artist.
Each artist is invited to make field recordings during the trip in order to compose tracks. For this one, the travel was between Nancy and Luxembourg. We visited a tuning car rally, a wasteland sanatorium, a racing circuit, a pet shop and a motorway area.
