The wait is over! Today is the day. Here it is folks. My first project for 2013. This one is for all my B-boys, B-Girls, and Funk enthusiast. On this one I've teamed up with BATTLE OF THE YEAR to give you the official BOTY World Finals Mixtape. Enjoy!

For those that don't know, here's a little insight on BOTY. The Battle Of The Year has come a long way. Who would have thought that BOTY would go from starting out in 1990 in a local youth culture center with 500 hard-core fans to an arena packed with more than 12,000 roaring spectators and b-boy crews from all over the world? BOTY has grown massively – and we have slowly realised our vision of developing the spirit of breakdance and creating an international event platform that allows B-Boys and B-Girls from all different countries to express their creativity in front of an ever-growing audience. BOTY 2012 was huge – and our aim is to keep it growing, evolving and pushing it to become the best Battle Of The Year we can possibly achieve, to once again prove that the event has earned its position as a pinnacle of the breaking and b-boying scene.

Welcome to New Orleans: A tribute to New Orleans Funk and Soul is the work of New Orleans native, DJ Personify. Raised in the Crescent City, the die-hard Hip-Hop fan learned early on that many of the samples he discovered originated in New Orleans. He soon became infatuated with the Funk and Soul music recorded there and has spent the better part of the last twenty years immersed in the culture of those records. Personify’s passion for New Orleans' music and culture extends to the present day and is manifested in this DJ mix masterpiece. Lovingly compiled, all of the artists featured on the mix are native to New Orleans with the exception of Hugo Montenegro who plays alongside Al Hirt (a New Orleans native) and The Headhunters, who are included here because of their work with Bill Summers (a life-long New Orleanian). All songs and samples used on this mix were recorded from vinyl sources. A year ago I was approached by Jamison Harvey from Flea Market Funk and asked to do a mix for them. I've always had a lot of respect for what they do, and always enjoyed listening to their mixes as well. I also wanted to somehow include my Butta Brother Skeme Richards. So we got together, and came up with an idea. I would do a mix, and Skeme would dub dialog from his massive VHS collection and lay it on top. Kind of a soundtrack for a movie that never happened. So, that's what we did! With that said, we present to you "Cops Crooks and Spies". Thank you everyone for your support! Peace.
