I got lost in the sky as a teenager, 
I was premature and still learning the world. 
I fired off at the thought that I could be normal, 
live that normal life and not out running the curbs. 
Some time off won’t do me good, 
I tried the meds they scribed, 
but I’m done taking them. 
And now I’m trying this life. 
I’ve been dying inside, 
it’s like a virus I must of formulized 
cuz it ain’t categorized. 
And now I’m drowning in this mess I’ve made, 
I have too many memories. 
I need somewhere with evergreens, 
I need something to give today. 
I’ve been the one to run away, 
but I tell you that I’m here to stay. 
Just gotta go get a break, 
to better heights, to better days.

I learned quick that i can’t take back the past, 
I just gotta learn to make my amends. 
I figured out that the more I wrestle 
with the thought of failure the more it attends. 
I been to lower levels when 
my mental state’s at a decline 
and when I look into the eyes of the world, it’s a lie. 
It sucks waking up early just hoping to die. 
Cuz when you hit rock bottom, 
it’s hard to reach up and climb. 
This life has got me thinkin’ that I just never will find 
or I’ll never catch a silver line between all the cries. 
I’ll never see the little light that always will shine. 
It’s a million miles from I and I always will try. 
I got a record in my luggage and it’s heavy and wide.
It follows every step I go because I pull it behind. 
Down every road I’m with the carry on for my flight.

I feel at home down in the Bible Belt, 
a motel and my Mac. 
I got a planet on my back, 
manic depressive in my past. 
My soul is damaged, 
but I manage and I’ve battled and I last. 
My sin is brandished and it’s 
left me many scars that I have masked. 
The drugs, at first they worked 
but then I got addicted to the rush. 
Then the bottle brought tomorrow’s shame 
when it started during brunch. 
Then the law done got involved and 
now I’m running  the judge. 

Pour me out two fourties and I’m gonna roll me up a blunt. 
Once I get started it always ends with too much. 
I tend to lose all control when it comes to what I want. 
When I start that slow roll, man the slope’s a short run. 
I wish that I could play the tape before I give it up.
