It is during summer 2024, in front of 40 subs stacked under the trees of Draaimolen’s Forest Rave stage that we first met Faited. Envelope Soundsystem conjurer, soundsystem fabricator, and a wonderfully skilled vinyl DJ, Faited has made of sound an element that she invokes, crafts and playfully selects. Based in Oakland, CA, she is deeply involved in building and nurturing communities in the pure rave spirit, sharing both her knowledge of acoustic waves and bringing people together around music. 

When it comes to her vinyl selection and practice, it is raw sounds and moving energies that connect her record collection. From mind melting drum’n’base to ravey techno and trippy tech house escapes, it is a body freeing feeling that she creates on the dance floor. 

Faited had a busy summer, touring in Europe and playing a few festivals: The Great Beyond Festival in Minneapolis, Draaimolen in Tilburg (with an incredible performance alongside Octo Octa), and the multi-day rave System Activate in Vermont. When not DJing, she designs and fabricates new loudspeaker designs under her brand Faited Systems.

It is a real honour and pleasure to host Faited for Polychrome Radio on Echobox Radio. This hour of music encapsulates her unique dance floor perspective, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!

VioletNoise is a DJ and experimental artist located in the Pacific Northwest. They are a cofounder of the Buddy System party series. Their artistic approach is inherently collaborative and proudest moments are sharing the decks with friends. Zorza is a Canadian DJ and producer known for her high-energy sets that fuse trance, techno, and hard dance with touches of hyperpop. Her productions mix nostalgic basslines with catchy pop melodies, shaping a sound that’s both emotional and instantly recognisable.

For this BCCO mix, she leans into the bright, colourful side of trance and hyperpop, focusing on vocal-driven tracks. The set includes several of her upcoming releases and collaborations with some of her favourite artists and producers, including Promis3, Aamourocean, DJ Caline, and Gimela.

BCCO Mix Series 697: ZORZA

From Mx. Blaire: I titled this mix “Soft Sounds for Hard Times” or “More Bird Noises in the Ambient Room”. This 1hr collection of music is meant to calm the nervous system with gentle tones, soft synth pads, and copious nature noises. I often turn to ambient music with a softer edge in times of great stress or periods in life that call for deep meditation & reflection. My hope was to soundtrack a mix that allows you to lie down, let the ground hold you, experience a warm blanket of sound shroud your senses, and sink into a state of ease. The last track is especially inspired by Russell E.L. Butler's @russellelbutler set at System Activate. They masterfully guided dancers towards the end of a 23hr journey, and ML Butch’s Working It Out was an especially gorgeous and powerful moment. The entire set and that special track has personally resonated deeply ever since.

A dazzling selectress, an embodiment of skill and craft, and a passionate community builder, Mx. Blaire (she/they) of Boston, MA has a singular ability to enchant dancers with stirring, sometimes otherworldly sounds. Her reverence for 90s house, hard-hitting techno, and mind-bending acid guarantees an active dance floor, kept enthralled by intentionally placed breaks and thrilling interplays of tempos and textures. As a result of their dedicated vinyl practice, Blaire’s sets are also technically engaging, with brilliant phrasing and thoughtful touches of turntablism. She uses these skills to transfer her energy to the dancers and share in sonic conversations, exploring concurrent themes of resistance & joy and existence & play. 

In addition to sharing their gifts through DJ sets, Blaire betters Boston’s underground through their organizing, for the queer dance music collective Boudoir and their new series Sheer Bliss. It’s hard to find parties frequented by a stronger community and filled with as much uninhibited delight. Furthering her commitment to community care, Blaire has created her spirit-comforting Sunday ambient and downtempo party called Sweetie Pie
