Choice between remaining #UNDERGROUND, never escaping #OBSCURITY, & even considering going #MAINSTREAM, lusting after FAME & FORTUNE, has NEVER BEEN a choice for me; I do what I want to do, not what THEY want me to do, which is why I've never lost my creative drive in 48 yrs!

Don't know about you, but I like to go #DeepUnderground; no interest in what's lying around on the surface! The more difficult it is to #PIGEONHOLE the more it intrigues me; the more I'm thinking, the mind that created this ought to impress everyone because it isn't trying to impress anyone, it goes where it pleases!

WE BENEFIT FROM POSTING ON SOUNDCLOUD THE MOST WHEN WE FOLLOW BACK, LISTEN AND LEAVE FEEDBACK

Who should we follow back? The Soundcloud users who don’t just follow us they actually listen and leave feedback, makes sense, right. So why does it make sense, because they are the ones actually supporting your music, they are the ones that raise your profile and feedback is FREE hype, it advertises your product, it tells new arrivals to your page that your music is worth listening to, that’s what I mean when I say we ALL benefit.
These platforms actually end up failing BECAUSE we don’t maximise their potential in this way, a follow serves no purpose if we don’t follow through, and if we don’t follow through others don’t follow through either, we all become wary of giving support because we know only a very small number will do the same for us.
So how does this affect these platform, activity slows down eventually grinding to a halt, once that happens platforms like Soundcloud could end up going out of business, eventually there will be no platforms left for us to FREELY post on, the day will arrive when the ONLY way to post our music is to PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE, so you see being PROACTIVE not only benefits you and I it ensures the survival of platforms like Soundcloud; ok, so it doesn’t deliver in some of the ways we’d like it to, and including reaching an actual audience, but it’s a whole lot better than nothing at all!

On A Dark Rainy Night, the Yellow Rain Coat Girl

Hey Folks…. Hope all is well wherever you are. In that relative sense of the world being as it is right now. A cold Spring here so far. A little snow, freezing temps, but that will change soon with the new heat dome dropping down upon us from the north. So instead of composing songs, I have been outside quite a bit these past few weeks… I tilled and began planting the vegetable garden. Snow and sugar snap peas are germinating. I planted 3 varieties of lettuce plants from seed I grew and saved from the past few years. If you don’t know… Lettuce ‘goes to seed’ when the plant ‘bolts’ by sending up a 3 foot flower stalk, which looks pretty cool. I usually let some lettuce bolt each year. A while back, I used to market about 300 heads of lettuce a year, but now just grow 50 or so heads for salad. That’s a lot of salad…. I also planted leeks from seed plants I grew last year, after letting the leeks overwinter. I was dreaming about potato-leek soup, when I first planted leeks, and well, the dream was better than the soup. The garlic patch is up, from last autumn’s planting. I call the patch ‘The Garlic Monster’, as it has grown in size over the years, the unruly beast that it is. There were some overwintered Swiss chard plants that I dug up and transplanted to a side spot in the garden, hoping to get some seeds this year from those plants. Beets, carrots and rutabagas have not germinated yet. (It’s been cold.) I dug up 3 large rhubarb plants I grew from seed that I collected, and moved them to a new bed as the spot they were in was a spur of the moment decision that wasn’t working. I do harvest and prepare rhubarb each year, but it is definitely an acquired taste, so I tend to compost some of what I pick. (Most of it…haha.) I transplanted 2 aspens and a pie cherry sapling that grew up too close to the house. The main aspen and cherry trees are easily 10 yards away from where the saplings were. I am always amazed at how tree roots grow in search of water, this time for dripping water off the house. That phenomenon is called Hydrotropism. I moved the saplings to an open area of the yard where I hope they will sprout many more trees to create a mini grove. OK… that’s enough gardening stories for now…. Don’t you think? I need some for the next song… hahaha. So with the colder mornings, I have been recording songs every other day or so. I had 3 songs recorded and well and they were all sketchy/wonky in parts. One, a true story, was about this dude threatening me with a handgun. (That song was way too political)… another was a sobby, tear-jerker of a lament, OMG… sure I felt that way, but seriously dude? The third was a loud and dissonant slide song, which happens when I need to burn off some negative energy. I was bummed after listening to all of them, so I did this song, as a last ditch effort to salvage my musical dignity. Ha! So let me know what you think… Thanks. Avoidant Personality Disorder: I meet all seven criteria, have done since childhood, spent my whole life trying to hide it. 

Affected every aspect of my life. Had many relationships with women in the past, all deteriorating because of the disorder, with me getting out when the symptoms of the disorder became more noticeable, and it is definitely what has prevented me from seizing the few musician opportunities that came my way, unable to function around others means unable to function around band members too, unable to go out there and gig, having ideas but incapable of seeing them through.

Ironically, that same disorder likely plays a significant role in my creativity!

I've rarely written lyrics about myself, but I think it's time I created a dozen tunes that do just that, not so much to draw attention to myself, but to contribute to addressing a misunderstood and understated disorder, because, take my word for it, it's one of THE MOST crippling personality disorders imaginable; it is has a global impact on every aspect, every moment, of your existence!

For diversity and consistency, I am not hesitant in saying my Soundcloud pages house the most inventive creations on here. There are others making fabulous tunes, but no one is more prolific while maintaining a high standard of pole to pole invention, and that applies to the lyrics too. I won't escape obscurity and oblivion, but that proves nothing, the internet is way, way, WAY overcrowded with unsigned music, way too much mediocre stuff, which obscure anything exceptional out there; the wood hidden away behind lots and lots and LOTS of trees, and no one has the time to look for needles in haystacks, to find a diamond in the rough, it's just way too big a task, not humanely possible!

INVENTIVE, AUTHENTIC, DIVERSE MUSIC, INVENTIVE, AUTHENTIC, IMAGINATIVE LYRICS, but those are the last things the vast majority of listeners are looking for these days!

Me, I'm awestruck by musicians who can't be pigeonholed, who don't conform to any borders, who don't think about which direction each new creation will take, they just go wherever that creativity takes them; pure, on the fly, innovation, imperfect but 100% authentic, as far a way from manufactured, recipe book, regurgitation, as it is possible to get, totally unforced, inspirational and way, way, WAY outside the box! There ought to be a place for such creativity, there was at one time, but a mercenary music industry put an end to that, leaving us with a situation where those who deserve the most adoration for the talents receive the least!

Listening to just one of my tunes tells you nothing about my creative approach, listening to ten of my tunes will still tell you very little, listen to a hundred of my tunes and the penny will start to drop, but it's only after hearing 500+ of my creations and collaborations that your eyes will widen in amazement! 
However, if you don't have unlimited eclectic taste none of that applies, and the reality is, who, in this world, is going to listen to every tune I've created, no one--if even one tune is heard from beginning to end it's a minor miracle, because sadly, there is a belief that unsigned means inferior, but I've heard enough tunes by the rest of you guys to know that's a myth, that's bullshit, we create some of the most inventive, authentic, imaginative tunes out there!
Give me unsigned, independent and underground music over signed, safe, predictable, recipe book, music any day of the week!

Now I don't personally believe I'm in the same league as #Bowie, other than my lyrics, more often than not, making more sense, but I do think I share his ability to adapt to different genres, and his endless, diverse, creativity, just not quite on the same level.

I'm not proficient/accomplished on instruments, & I have other musical limitations, but most genres come natural to me, and I much prefer having that unforced ability to being highly accomplished on instruments, highly polished on production, or having the perfect voice!

If I didn't feel I had my own approach, if my music was easy to pigeonhole, I would have quit music a long time ago!
Never been about fame & fortune, just about pushing the boundaries without actually intending to push the boundaries; creativity that's second nature not formula! 
Yes, I want to reach an audience but making money from my music means nothing to me!
