Fire In The Forest

The song is set in the desert - two camels in the hot sun, trudging in the sand. A man sits on the first camel with a weather beaten guitar, playing & singing. A woman is in the covered cart pulled by the second camel. She is a medicine woman, a shaman, a healer - and they sing about the ailments for which she has charms and potions for sale. 
In the night, they are joined by a couple of percussionists and she dances round the fire. In the morning, they are alone again. When they pack up to leave, they are followed deeper into the desert by a small, mangy but friendly black dog.

Spirit Of The Land - intro Feb2020

Govez is a folk funk band operating in Goa.
It's presently fronted by Reggie Goveas on vocals & guitar, Vishal Singh on electric guitar, Jyotsna & Manu on percussions. More members will hopefully be plugging in as we move along. We aim to record and get you some finished songs soon. Wish us luck and show your support! 

Reggie traces his musical roots to blues, folk and 60's rock, the mainstay of his former cover band - Grassroots Revival ('92-'95) 

His musical influences range from the Beatles, CSNY, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Howling wolf, Bobs - Dylan and Marley, Lou Reed, Radiohead & Nirvana; extending to Indian classical greats, folk artistes, funk and electronic musicians from around the world.

Govez's music is contemplative and his songs are simple melodies with lyrics that speak directly to the listener on a personal level. On another level, Govez wants to make you dance.
