Remezcla Mixtape - Gracie Chavez [Bombon, Houston]

Like many, my dad immigrated to Texas from la frontera de Mexico. He had faint aspirations of becoming something more than an auto body man. But he immersed himself in night school English classes and into Houston’s culture.

Stories like these aren’t uncommon, but what is remarkable about its protagonists is resilience.

As the topic of freedom for all seems most prevelant at the moment, “Somos Más Americanos” by Los Tigres and Zack de la Rocha has become an anthem reclaiming immigrant identity. Mexicans and Latinos have deeper roots in the Americas than many U.S. citizens and deserve recognition, respect, and rights as any human being.

Gracie Chavez - Todo Aquí (Everything Here) [Mixtape]

DJ Gracie Chavez is an ambassador for the Texas music scene. She's doin it real big (DIRB!) pushing the crossover of music genres, playing a spectrum of sounds and winning folks over. A veteran DJ of the Lone Star State, she co-founded Bombón, one of Houston's hottest tropical dance parties, and was voted Best DJ (Houston Press, 2016). She's also a workshop instructor for Girls Rock Camp Houston and founded Les Femmes TX, an all-female DJ crew. 

This mami is the perfect act with a pedigree heavy enough to handle any party.
