I had this tape. It was an after party tape circulated amounst friends. God had to be 89, 90. I bet you this tape is in box in my garage. I traveled around America with just a back pack for 2 years. My parents came to visit me in Oregon and brought me a box and this tape was in it. The tape survived all my material shedding.

RIP Derek, miss you brother.  Kimball, this recording brings back some of my best memories in life. Thank you for sharing.  Also, congratulations on your continued success. always...djNOTHING MOVING RECORDS

A classic, almost down tempo set from two Orlando Legends - Kimball Collins and D-Xtreme. I don't know where this party was at. Maybe someone that  was there can confirm.  Suffice to say the track selection was clearly reminiscent of the early morning, come down hours. 

Also, I'm not 100% on the year. I would love to get an official date and year on this one.

This is probably one of the most memorial nights I've ever had at a club. I remember spending the day with the family (as this was actually on Thanksgiving day). I had a terrible cold and my family was trying to convince me to stay in, but there was no way in hell I was going to miss a party at the Abyss. Thank god I went. I forgot about being sick about 2 seconds after working through the club doors.  The music was amazing and the place was packed and definitely up for a big night. 

Incredible music, vibe and people. Saved here for all to enjoy.

In the spirit of some old school sets recently posted from Kimball Collins, I got this set from Chris Fortier in 2008 and he said it was ok for me to post here.  The set was recorded some years ago, and originally going to be a few volumes of a series for free giveaway, but as far as I know, this is the only volume.  A ton great songs on here. Enjoy.

Scott Riley isn't a name that most old schoolers will call out when you talk about your favorite Orlando DJs from back in the day.  However not to mention him in the history of the Orlando rave scene would be a major oversight. Scott was the resident DJ at Firestone on Thursday nights and dropped a ton of good tracks that filled the gaps until the big weekend events came up. Just check out these 2 sets to hear the quality of tunes Scott was playing.

KIMBALL COLLINS - AAHZ 20 REUNION (PIANO & VOCAL MINI-MIX)

Electronic music aficionado since 1991.   DJ Since 94. Producer since  2001. Record Label Owner (Stellar Records), early 00’s.  Collector of classic 90’s DJ Sets.  Current purveyor of modern progressive breaks and deep house via Black Coffee dj mix series. 

Had the privilege of “being there” in halcyon days of the early US rave scene at ground zero - Orlando, FL.  Our  (at the time) small, Disney focused town become the launch pad for the American Rave scene via the amazing DJs and promoters that were ahead of their time led by Kimball Collins at Aahz  playing  upfront dance music (simply called house back then) that was generally only found across the Atlantic. Kimball and other local DJs mixed music expertly in our burgeoning underground clubs here to the late hours of the morning often bleeding into the next day igniting a decade long explosion of club music throughout the city.  If you were there, you know.   Aahz spawned a host of iconic clubs including Firestone (now Vanguard), The Edge, the Abyss, Barberella, Marz and on and on.  Huge one off raves like Trance Atlantic and Zen fast followed  setting the stage for todays EDC, bringing more global talent to our dancing city, laying down musical history that everyone that lived it will certainly “Rave” about for the rest of their lives. 

Being a part of that scene led me, like many others, to pursue my own path in creating electronic music.  A passion for DJing led to endless Orlando house parties in early 90s, before joining the Stellar Brand/team in DC providing a residency at Tracks nightclub and  opening up gigs at clubs throughout the DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland before returning to Orlando in 2004.  

Still listening, buying, spinning, sharing the music that moves me. It has been and always will be all about the music.
