Submitted for OP-1 Forums Battle #74. Instead of sampling this popular jazz tune, I decided to just play my version. Guitar and bass recorded straight into the OP-1, drums from stock sounds and "horns" from the stock preset synths.

OP-1 Battle #74 So What

This one needs an introduction just so you know I wasn’t just making noise. So I ran a breakbeat from the OT(cue track) into the Field Kit FX and also Lyra 8 into the FKFX. The FKFX has a cv sequencer that is controlling the delay time on FKFX and also CV Voices on Lyra. So anything rhythmically coming from the cv sequencer is affecting the delay time from the drums and the voices of Lyra. So when I stopped the drums, I grabbed that delay buffer and turned the feedback all the way up. At the same time, Lyra’s voices are still being sequenced. Once I have something rhythmic going with the delay buffer, I start manipulating the cv sequence which also affects Lyra. It sounds like a bunch of noise but it’s fun to manipulate.

The Polyend Tracker has this cool feature that will name your projects automatically. I was basically trying out the mic in (high gain) with an sm57 on my acoustic guitar and it led to this little song.

Solenoid banging on an old tin cup (actually an equestrian trophy) powered by the Koma Field Kit and modulated (speed and intensity) by its LFO. Every percussive sound is from the solenoid/cup affected by the delay buffer on the Koma Field Kit FX. The cup is mic'ed with a small contact microphone and sent to the Field Kit FX from the Field Kit AUX in the mixer. The delay time is being modulated by the CV sequencer from the Field Kit FX and the really noisy parts are the result of turning the delay feedback all the way up. The sort of melodic parts are the result of sequencing the delay time with cv. Polyend Tracker is monitoring it all in case I want to sample and it's also adding reverb and a little bit of extra delay. I don't expect most people to sit through 10 minutes of noise but if you have the patience, there are some nice little moments in here. If you're into noise, this one's for you. I feel pretty good about it.

Rummaging through old backup files from 2014. This is the first collection of tape tracks from my first OP-1. Very weird but very groovy.

Submission for Battle 81 on Op forum. Used the samples provided for the battle and added some live bass and backwards fuzz guitar.

2 tracks recorded straight into the op-1 field's internal microphone. The 1st is some improv acoustic guitar. The 2nd is my fender jaguar into a Basic Audio Big Muff clone into a MusicMan HD130 head through a Mesa 1x12 cabinet. Again, just using the internal mic on the op-1 field.

Mixing the Tape tracks from my old op-1. These little mini-songs and beats were done back in 2013-2014. It's cool to hear them now after 10 years or so.

Deconstructing the ukulele. Recorded it, then sampled it, then sequenced it with Endless non op-1 field. Added drums and live bass guitar, one take, no redos.
