Portuguese label Discotexas welcomes a superb new act to the family with their fantastic new Memory Tracks EP. That act is Antenna Happy, a Brighton based beat smith with a passion for electronics that is here in all its glory across three top tracks.
Antenna Happy is Nathan Pope, someone who has been soaking up house and techno at various parties around the country since his teens. After a break to working on acting and even stand up, Pope returned to the fray in 2014 and since then has put out essential EPs on labels like Tenth Circle, Reinhardt and his own Antenna Happy.
The ever-lasting build of ‘Memory Track’ kicks off the EP with a profound sense of emotion. It is mental, deep and dark but it doesn’t lack any groove and it stands out as a phenomenal party starter. As far as libidinous and inviting house grooves go, they come no better.
The brilliant ‘Brute Harmony’ is the heavy heart of the EP. This is how Nathan Pope sees the darkest side of dance music; a hallucinogenic excursion that glues techno and disco into some dramatic, synth-driven narcotic sound that will have ‘floors in raptures.
Last but not least, ‘Where Space Is’ provides some serenity and relief. It keeps the trippy muscle of Antenna Happy going, but with a softer mood and a more subtle progressive layering of synth elements, topped with a child's voice that gives it a final touch of sweetness. It’s a perfectly dreamy way to round out a varied EP.
Across all three track here, Antenna Happy showcases a real breadth and depth of style that makes this another standout EP for artist and label.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE RECRUITED YOUNG OPERATIVE KNOWN AS DAZION, A KEEN WINDSURFER, TO DEVELOP A METHOD OF BROADCASTING THEIR ADDICTIVE AND MIND-ALTERING MUSICAL MISSIVES WHEREVER THERE IS A SUITABLE BODY OF WATER.

OUR OPERATIVES TRACKED DAZION TO A REMOTE SPOT ON THE DUTCH COAST, WHERE HE WAS SPOTTED TRIALLING THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY WITH HIS FAVOURED F2 DRAGON BOARD. AS HE RODE THE CHOPPY WAVES, WE WERE ABLE TO DETECT AND RECORD RHYTHMICAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC EMINATING FROM THE BOARD ITSELF. WE ENCLOSE THIS RECORDING, WHICH FEATURES THE KIND OF TRIBALISTIC, DELAY-LADEN DRUMS, SWELLING ELECTRONICS AND EXOTIC MELODIC REFRAINS THAT ARE KNOWN TO INSPIRE FRENZIED DANCING IN MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC. WE HAVE CHRISTENED THIS RECORDING “DRAGON WAVE”.

AFTER EXITING THE WATER, DAZION PACKED UP HIS TOP-SECRET WINDSURFING TECHNOLOGY AND DROVE TO A BACKSTREET ADDRESS IN A QUIET AREA OF AMSTERDAM. THERE, IN A LIGHT INDUSTRIAL UNIT, HE CONTINUED TO TINKER WITH THE TECHNOLOGY, TESTING IT OUT BY BROADCASTING ANOTHER MUSICAL COMPOSITION. THIS WAS MORE POIGNANT AND MELANCHOLIC IN TONE, UTILISING SPAACEY ELECTRONIC MELODIES, GENTLY BOBBING CHORDS, HEART-ACHING GUITAR FLOURISHES AND A TOUGH BUT BROKEN RHYTHM TRACK. THE RECORDING – CODE NAME “VX LTD” – HAD A HUGE IMPACT ON US EMOTIONALLY AND EVEN REDUCED ONE OPERATIVE TO TEARS.

IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT THE SAFE TRIP ORGANISATION WILL ONLY INCREASE IN STRENGTH WITH DAZION’S INVOLVEMENT. WE RECOMMEND WATCHING THE WAVES AND WINDS INTENTLY FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS.

Italy-based talent Verner makes his debut on Nachtbraker's Quartet Series to deliver an eclectic seven-track EP titled 'Crash Of The Web', featuring the funky synth excursion 'Tecladista'.

With a unique sound profile that fuses elements of funk, jazz, organic textures and electronic elements, Verner is proving to be a versatile talent. Premiere: Verner 'Tecladista'

The Citizen’s of Vice collective welcomes brand new collaborative production and live act, Paper Street Soul for a fresh three tracker.

UK nu disco projects Cuz Electric (Rich Hall, Megan Jones) and Slync (Ian Stanford) make up this new outfit and bring disco, boogie, funk, soul, jazz, house and more to their grooves. With classy vocals, live instrumentation and years of expertise they are an act very much to watch.

Dreamt up in deepest darkest West Midlands, this EP came together over a couple of months. Collaborating over the ether, the trio have combined live guitars, bass, percussion and analogue hardware with a modern electronic edge.

Opener ‘Fallin Down’ is a supersized cut with huge disco licks and diva vocals all complimented with big keys. It’s joyous and timeless and sure to get hands in the air. The equally excellent ‘Always (On My Mind)’ has cosmic pads and laser-like chords with plenty of echo and effects all making it a retro-future gem. Closing out the package is the smooth and seductive ‘Moonpig’ with its deep drums and cooing vocals, trilling Balearic riffs and soul infused grooves.

This is a brilliant breakout debut EP from this super-hot new disco group.
