At one point in the 90s I tried writing songs at set times each week for a while. I'd just put together a new band and I needed some new songs. Previously, letting ideas come to me had worked fairly well, but with a busy lifestyle my writing rate had slowed.

Anyway this song is the product of my first scheduled session. It was not at all suitable for the band I was playing with, but I still liked it, and I finally recorded it a couple of years ago.

How many chords!?

When I first wrote this one I found it hard to sing, but over the years I found a way. I've only ever played this song in public once, but maybe that'll change in the future.

I Want To Know

Lovely riff from my old friend Tony set this song off on it's journey. Tongue very firmly placed in cheek at times, but I love the way it flows. Listen to the 'World in Action' keyboard part after the guitar solo in the dark for maximum effect.

My Mind

A live favourite from my days with Albedo (https://soundcloud.com/albedo-uk) although it was written before that. We usually closed our set with this and the instrumental break in the middle was extended to include all sorts of indulgent guitar pranks. Towards the end of the middle section Alf would grab a drumstick and whack the guitar strings for some dramatic power chords.

One time when we were playing this in a pub in Tunbridge Wells, I was jumping around and lost balance. I crashed against the pub door and it swung wide open so I almost tumbled out onto the street whilst still trying to carry on playing.

Sadly Albedo never got around to recording this in a studio but this version gets close to what it sounded like then. I recorded this too late to get on the Lifeline album, but I may finish it off and include it on my next album.

This one is another from my back catalogue. It was written and recorded in 1994 right at the end of my time with the band called 'The Great Unshaven'. It was released a while later as part of a 5-track EP by 'Shnaffel'
