It's a Friday and that means it's @MusicWeeklies day!  This week's theme is #BigCities, and I thought I would travel back in time to one of the earliest cities, Uruk.  As always, everything is very loosely connected and the artwork shows a picture of my son and I in another city, Cairo. This week’s @MusicWeeklies challenge is #Crystals, so I thought I’d strip away all the woodwind, brass and traditional instruments.  This uncovered the complexities that have been omnipresent in the percussion.  The strings return, providing a calming soundscape for an earworm-like melody on the celeste.  What do you think?

This unique track features a high-pitched whistling reminiscent of a shepherd's tone, complemented by warm, low strings and a playful music box melody that gently fades away. A single, dominant organ chord takes over, maintaining a consistent pitch throughout the remainder of the track, enveloped by very subtle, modulating high-pitched pads. This composition conjures a sober, emotional atmosphere filled with curiosity, wonder, and mystery. The second immersive soundscape combines the didgeridoo and natural sounds from South Africa. The piece is created the same way than the first. The sounds are designed and placed in such a way that the listener can choose one sound in the piece and focus. The track is designed to help the individual improve their listening skills, find focus and quiet their mind. The neurodiverse community will find great benefit from the soundscapes. It is the same for others who wish to find a little bit of quiet in their busy lives.

I started composing daily pieces and posting them onto SoundCloud at the beginning of 2013.  By posting daily I am tweaking, experimenting and developing a thought, idea or event in time.  I am endeavouring to show that there is no limit to that creative spark that lies within each of us.  So much of what we do nowadays is about instant return, I am about evolution not revolution (although each month starts with a clean slate).  Join me on my journey to 10,000 (18 May 2040!!!)

Over the years I have found the Soundcloud community to be extremely supportive and encouraging.  It’s great to have a Global Mastermind of musical adventurers.
