Lakewaves Trio - Carried Away Again (Jam)

A "deep funk" jam to prepare you for the spontaneous composition taking place at my upcoming shows next month. This example emphasizes the groove-based keys/drums duo iteration, with me rocking some futuristic wah-clav over celestial synth & organ while Will Bailey acts as rhythmic captain of the spaceship. 

If you're impatient for the ecstatic like I am sometimes, you skip ahead 3 minutes or so and get to the serotonin a little quicker (but then you miss all that buildup!). Either way, this is a great 10-minute soundtrack to robbing a bank, or something similar and cinematic along those lines.

Lakewaves Trio - Polaroid From The Future

A live instrumental remix of hip-hop group People Under the Stairs' "Eat Street" from their 2006 album Stepfather, turned into a keyboard feature by me, culled from live solo set at Brink Lounge here in Madison, WI.

Apparently this sounds like a juicy 4-minute snippet from a Phish JustJams compilation, or something similarly spaced-out and danceable. 

I often feel more like a "keyboard jockey" (KJ) than a "disc jockey" (DJ) in my solo shows but this combines both of those worlds; it also gives you a good idea of what it's like to walk into one of those sets.

This one's called "Shakedown at the Disco Roll-A-Rena, Feb 11 1979" aka A Journey Through Time on the Graham Marlowe Express. 
When we listened back to the tape it sounded like a scene from a 1970's Grahamsploitation film, or rather, the sound-image of something like the title. 

The groove comes in kinda hot, mellows and simmers a bit, and then gives itself lift-off again even more so. I'd say this one occupies the darker, more ambient, driving-and-thinking side of funk.
