this is pretty dope! great keys, bass, classic vibe.

the standup drums really compliment the call/response. LOVE that off-snare.

these smooth pads, the modulating low-chords, the great drum rack(hats especially).. that extra noise on the snare sounds a little cooked, but soundcloud is notorious for introducing artifacts to uploads- still a great track!

great spin on traditional 4floor arrangement. this one's so smooth, it would make any lounge/warmup set one to remember. The night is young when this drops!

Kapote aka Mathias Modica runs  Toy Tonics and Kryptox records with two friends in Germany. Besides finding and producing artists for the label, he also publishes an graphic magazin, designed t shirts and is a keyboarder and producer. He released music under the names Kapote and Munk (on his former label Gomma records). Before releasing dance oriented music on Toy Tonics he  used to produced records with artists such as Peaches, James Murphy, WhoMadeWho, The Rammellzee a.o.on the now sleeping Gomma label. The 2012 release of Lil' Louis “Fable” (in conjunction with Diamond Records) was a monumental release for Gramaphone Records. The legendary record store, a Chicago House institution and cornerstone of dance and electronic music culture both locally and increasingly globally, took its first steps in curating a record label to call its own. 

Now in 2015, the time is right to proudly present the first record to be released solely under the Gramaphone Records imprint. Garrett David, steps up to task at hand to deliver this masterfully crafted 4-track EP, A New Room. The young Chicago producer’s resume includes House buyer for Gramaphone and resident DJ at Queen!, a weekly event at the renowned Chicago venue Smart Bar. Thus far in his young career, Garrett’s work as a producer has appeared on Balance Recordings, Chicago’s Stripped and Chewed, and Discovery Recordings, as part of Bell Boys… overall not too bad for still being in your early 20’s! 

Garrett’s machines go to work on ‘Console Cowboy’, drums keenly aimed at the club caressed by lush chord stabs and a buoyant bassline. ‘Midi Sense’ takes us deeper with its inviting melody and vintage drums. Deftly affected chords stretch miles over crunchy, saturated beats on ‘Tunnels’. ‘Morning Mantra’ (produced in collaboration with Bell Boys cohort, Adam Rowe) rounds out the EP with its lightly treading groove and dreamy atmospherics.

Eric Dunks Duncan started DJ-ing in Manhattan’s Downtown bar and club circuit in the mid 90’s.
In 1996 he stepped out of the DJ booth to help curate music for the Girl Skateboards movie titled ‘Mouse’. 
A couple of years later, Eric along with Thomas Bullock formed the AfterHours party outfit ‘Rub-N-Tug’. 
In 2006 Eric & Liv Spencer started ‘Still Going’ releasing 2 singles on DFA Records including ‘Still Going Theme’ & ’Spaghetti Circus’ the later featuring the ultra talented Reggie Watts on vocals.
Eric Duncan aka Dr. Dunks has remixed as himself or as part of his collaborations:
Daniele Baldelli, Locosolus, Bryan Ferry, Robbie Williams, Laid Back, Grace Jones, Cold Play, Roxy Music, LCD Soundsystem, Canyons, TV Baby, Beastie Boys, Zero 7, Material, The Presets, Lindstrom, Doves, Todd Terje, Groove Armada & the list goes on. 
He is now relocated in Bali, Indonesia where he is a resident DJ at Potato Head Beach Club and works in the studio while ‘trying’ to learn how to surf in his spare time :)
