"While making this album I was inspired by the scientific themes and topics expressed by both 1970s magazine "Radical Software" and 1980s magazine "OMNI" for their influence on the video synthesis and broadcasting culture of our present day. Radical Software arrived in 1969 at a time of major social upheaval. The Viet Nam war was raging and the loss of Martin Luther King exacerbated feelings that a war on race war seemed inevitable. The Nixon presidency amplified feelings of despair but compelled many to imagine alternatives to the soulless, murderous culture in they were existing in. The urge to create new cultural structures, developed revolutionary video hardware that would play a pivotal role in accelerating the social change people desired. Authors of the magazine understood that change would only occur by increasing the level of social pressure. Through their reading of Buckminster Fuller, Gregory Bateson and Marshall McLuhan, they realized what needed to be changed was not the machines, but the instructions used to operate them. The social implications proved radical hardware was fine but what was critically needed was "Radical Software". The magazine became a form of social activism. It would be a forum, a video craft how-to-magazine, a rudimentary marketing and distribution system for the burgeoning community, and a journal of philosophical speculation and political opinion for all who shared their vision. So too are human relationships, Bound by the space within

The distance between two notes, can evoke a sense of hope, Or bring about a mournful tune, that echoes like like like.

And in the same way, human bonds, Are shaped by distance, near or far beyond, For when we're close, the world is bright, And we feel a sense of warmth

But when we're far, the world can seem, A cold and desolated dream, Where every step feels like a fight, And hope fades in the absence.

The experimental Italian composer returns to PAN with a new LP, titled 'Clonic Earth'. His ongoing output for the label has long-presented his electroacoustic sound compositions where since the mid-'00s, he has utilized analogue live sampling and real-time editing of field and studio recordings by means of manipulation of 1/4 inch tape.

Asides from being a founding member of the Italian avant-rock group 3/4HadBeenEliminated, he has worked extensively with various musicians, choreographers and multimedia artists including Thomas Ankersmit, Antoine Chessex, Werner Dafeldecker, Anthony Pateras, and Robert Piotrowicz.
 
His studio compositions, documented on few records, often explore themes of the internal - represented both by the psychological and the physical - and of the occult, which with the use of spoken text makes them often deeply existential works, self-investigations of the psychological, emotional and irrational horror within.

The new record, 'Clonic Earth' is a perturbing, compelling and eventually mind-expanding work, marked by compositional strategies of exploded narratives, psychological insight and oracular literary references, where questions about the boundaries of spatial perception in the decoding processes of acousmatic music are overturned into existential, metaphysical questions. 

Tricoli's allegorical and philosophical universe takes the form of an unhinged mind's landscape swarming with estranged sound objects, and sometimes reminiscent, in the complexity of details and surrealistic effects, of Hieronymus Bosch’s larger paintings. Compared to his previous works, the content of 'Clonic Earth' explores more synthesized and heavily processed sounds, especially vocals, often appearing in the form of a religious, electrified chanting. 

The record is described by its author as a natural consequence of the internal collapse depicted in his previous record, 'Miseri Lares': "As if all the debris left inside my loudspeakers have been ignited to expand into the ether, to find a justification at the principle of Chaos, or Cosmos alike." 

This movement is expressed by references to the theme of fire as original matter in the Chaldean Oracles which, together with the later work of Philip K. Dick, are the main sources for the vocal/text elements of the composition. Fire, intended as the convulsive principle of existence, but also an ontologically terminal element - hence a representation of the infinite decay and a mean of communication with the otherworldly - serves the author a metaphor for the acousmatic listening experience itself: a borderline perception of sounds eternally fixed in their spasmodic disappearance, which could eventually drag us into a different layer of reality, drastically changing, subverting, or expanding the space in which they are diffused. A ritual, somehow, which may link the listener and the perceptive space that he inhabits with whatever lies beyond the loudspeakers, beyond the vibrating surface of the world.

Paralaxe Editions is based in Barcelona, and Ylia (a.k.a. Susana Hernández) has long been one of the city's most well-regarded musicians. A classically trained pianist who came of age DJing breakbeat raves in Andalucia, she easily maneuvers between disparate scenes and styles; she's as comfortable dropping electro and techno records as she is performing alongside experimental flamenco artist Niño de Elche (she's a member of his touring band).


Following her appearances on labels such as Lapsus and Hivern Discs, Dulce Rendición is Ylia's first full-length effort, a cinematic collection of meditative and richly melodic tracks that largely grew out of her intimate live sets. Weaving together analog synths, field recordings and fragments of her own voice, much of the music was directly inspired by her dreams—and more specifically, the seemingly impossible sights and sounds that populated them. Working to recreate their lingering silhouettes in the light of day, Ylia oscillated between moments of deep introspection and playful fantasy as she settled into the hazy space between sleep and consciousness.
