Athens based Yannis Kotsonis better known as Sister Overdive returns with a limited edition of 100 copies following his releases at Organised Music from Thessaloniki and Somehow Ecstatic Records. Kotsonis explores the techniques of audio collage in order to create his own universe of crooked pscychedelia. Carefully picking and processing fragments from old vinyl records, discarded tapes and miscellaneous field recordings, Kotsonis produces an AM radio scanning adventure where a noisy thriftstore aesthetic blends with free-form improvisation, concrete echoes and broken dance forms.

Eventless Plot - Killing Realism (Granny15 excerpt)

Paths consists of five compositions forming a totality of 53 minutes. The music is derived from three multichannel pieces premiered at the Tectonics festival in Reykjavík (2014), the Ephémère series in The Hague (2014) and Présences électronique festival in Paris (2015). These have been further reduced, combined and rearranged resulting in the five compositions found on the album.

We may think of music as navigating between different moments of continuous change. One chooses a starting point and from there tries to reach other positions. The way a contact between these occurs is however always different and depends on the engagement with previous points of encounter. Even very static situations create perceptual illusions of development, producing prolonged and continuous experience. It could be how things change that creates the feeling of time. Perhaps all development is a matter of process, of activity, of change. We have difficulties apprehending what we are but little difficulty experiencing what we do. This behaviour based view is an important aspect of the album that explores previously experienced musical situations, different points of contact, paths through musical material.

Costis Drygianakis.
Born in Volos, Greece, in 1965. Studied Physics and Social Anthropology, involved with music, loves dogs, collects ceramics, cooks spaghetti. Active as a composer and record producer since 1987. According to an old press release, “the music of Costis Drygianakis, usually assembled with the help of recording media (tapes, computers etc) belongs to the genre of electroacoustic music, though generally avoiding the dogmatic approaches. Frequently using unorthodox relationships of composition, performance and re-composition, it utilizes and tames randomness and improvisation, balances in-between ambience and surprise, includes references but not identifications and, finally, explores without abandoning its sentimental space".

The Pitch is an improvising ensemble of four Berlin-based creative musicians founded in 2009. With acoustic instruments and minimal live-electronics they collectively compose structures which generate hypnotic melodic movement and deep acoustic textures. Bowed and struck vibraphone tones resonate with bowed bass harmonics, doubled by clarinet and reinforced by organ and sine tones. An intensely focused performance creates an atmosphere where the listeners perception is slowed down to make the smallest sonic details move from background to foreground.

The group continually expands into new terrain of musical material and playing styles inspired by fundamental states of matter (and variations thereof) - frozen surfaces, gaseous states, plasmatic fibrils, liquid patterns and molecular motion. Intensely colourful, shifting densities, concentrated, slowly-shifting patterns and fluctuations.
