Nacido y criado en Italia desde el 1998, Pyramidal Decode es el seudónimo de un productor poliédrico de Techno.
Comenzó a pinchar cuando era un joven adolescente y comenzó a producir obras de techno además de tocar otros instrumentos más clásicos.

En 2017 creó Pyramidal Decode lanzando sus temas en sellos como Subsist Records, DeadCert rec, Labrynth, Parabola Records y muchos otros.

Su música es difícil de encerrar en un género, pero se espacia entre el techno ambiental y el industrial duro, resultando como un viaje hipnótico.

Members of Caribou, Floating Points, Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, Junior Boys and more perform 1973 experimental score 'Tactus Tempus' on new LP.

Tactus Tempus is a lost, graphics based, experimental score by prolific composer Frank McCarty. The piece was originally conceived and performed in 1973 by McCarty's group BIOME on 5 EMS Synthi synthesizers.  By following a set of simple, yet subjective instructions the piece begins as a sparse moire pattern of bursts and tones before evolving in density and intensity as the players symbiotically interact guided only by the illustrated curve found on the score.  

This 12” LP +digital released by Geej  features two new performances of the score featuring members of Caribou, Floating Points, Hot Chip, Junior Boys, Simian Mobile Disco and friends.

Gathering in a rare moment of collective down time in London in July 2016 the spontaneously formed group performed the piece at Joe Goddard’s basement studio. Each participant used a separate synthesizer or modular synthesizer system and while the original slides were projected on the wall, the ensemble recorded two versions of the piece, each one recorded live in one take, lasting 15 minutes.   One version is tonal the other of percussive timbre. 

An original officially licenced 1973 recording of BIOME's performance will be included as a exclusive bonus to those purchasing the album thru Bandcamp.

The first time I heard Emily Sprague’s music was on lines. Somebody posted a video of hers, 'Three Sisters + Harmonic Oscillator', that had captured their attention as a high watermark...and it’s easy to understand how. The straightforward and earnest exploration of a beautiful module, through a looped melody you could listen to for hours, seemed the work of a seasoned pro. Somebody else commented, revealing that the synthesist was Emily Sprague from the band Florist. While they brought up that Emily had just started working with modular synths in the last year, digging deeper revealed that the video was actually made in her second week.

Beyond the quality of her music, which has only swelled over the last year, what’s fascinating about Emily’s work is how public her process has been. While most whittle away for months, releasing new work only after long incubation, Emily seems to revel in sharing each step of her growth in realtime — a direct response to the trajectory of her own self-education.

If you’re new to modular synthesis, this is the episode for you. If you’re deeply settled, this is the episode for you. Emily has retained a beginner’s mind while leveraging her rich decade-long background as a musician, producer and engineer to create music that is playful and emotional, while remaining technically impressive.

As you’ll notice, there are more music breaks in this episode than previous ones — due to my own fandom and Emily’s generosity, you’re the first to hear the demos that will make up her much-anticipated modular album.

Beyond her talents, Emily is an insightful and passionate addition to the lines community and personally, I hope that her reflections help anyone who feels that their voice is un or under-represented in this field to join the conversation at llllllll.co

Solid Steel (19th October) In Hour 1 we welcome back Taraval celebrating the release of his new EP 'Aardvark', which is out on Four Tet's Text Records today. The title track has been whipping festivals and dance floors into a frenzy all summer long when played by the likes of Four Tet, Daphni, Floating Points amongst others, getting many Track ID requests and features in this mix. The San Francisco based producer also has a background as a band member in Caribou. He told us;
"Always exciting to get to mix for Solid Steel. This one features a lot of music I’ve discovered and loved in 2018, plus a couple of tracks from my Aardvark EP on Text Records out on Oct 19. I recorded this live at Crowbar Corner studios, a new and very inspiring place in San Francisco I share with a bunch of artists. It starts off in an aquatic groove then shifts into some psych-y techno then dissolves into some American drones and tones old and new."

His list of achievements would burnish any CV: a doctorate in mathematics under one arm, and some of the 21st century’s most celebrated electronica albums under the other. He manages to juggle festival headline slots across the world with the live iteration of Caribou, while slipping out timeless dancefloor burners and one of the last ever FabricLive CDs as Daphni. Oh, and he’s a super friendly guy too.

That experience – and crowd-charming magnetism – can be heard all over today’s Dekmantel Podcast, a three-hour tour de force of Daphni in peak-time mode at the peak of summer.
