In the context of satyagraha, Truth, therefore, includes a) Truth in speech, as opposed to falsehood, b) knowledge of what is real, as opposed to nonexistent (asat), and c) good as opposed to evil or bad. This was critical to Gandhi's understanding of and faith in nonviolence: "The world rests upon the bedrock of 
satya
 or truth. 
Asatya
, meaning untruth, also means nonexistent, and 
satya
 or truth, also means that which is. If untruth does not so much as exist, its victory is out of the question. And truth being that which is, can never be destroyed. This is the doctrine of satyagraha in a nutshell."[7]For Gandhi, satyagraha went far beyond mere "passive resistance" and became strength in practising non-violent methods.[8] In his words:

There is a connection between ahimsa and satyagraha. Satyagraha is sometimes used to refer to the whole principle of nonviolence, where it is essentially the same as ahimsa, and sometimes used in a "marked" meaning to refer specifically to direct action that is largely obstructive, for example in the form of civil disobedience.


Assessing the extent to which Gandhi's ideas of satyagraha were or were not successful in the Indian independence struggle is a complex task. Judith Brown has suggested that "this is a political strategy and technique which, for its outcomes, depends greatly on historical specificities."[14] The view taken by Gandhi differs from the idea that the goal in any conflict is necessarily to defeat the opponent or frustrate the opponent's objectives, or to meet one's own objectives despite the efforts of the opponent to obstruct these. In satyagraha, by contrast, "The Satyagrahi's object is to convert, not to coerce, the wrong-doer."[15] The opponent must be converted, at least as far as to stop obstructing the just end, for this cooperation to take place. There are cases, to be sure, when an opponent, e.g. a dictator, has to be unseated and one cannot wait to convert him. The

In February 2015, after almost 50 years on tour, James Last announced that he was finally bidding adieu to the stage. The last concert of his Non Stop Music James Last in Concert 2015 farewell tour took place in Lanxess Arena in Cologne on 26 April 2015.[19]

The series was launched in August 2005 as a lineup of PCI sound cards, which served as the introduction for their X-Fi audio processing chip, with models ranging from

Launch reviews did not support Creative's claims of higher performance, however, with even the top-end 64 MB equipped model falling slightly behind the older Audigy cards.[3]


The market segment occupied by the XtremeMusic was moved downwards, with the introduction of the (cheaper) 'Xtreme Audio' and 'Xtreme Audio Notebook' products, which, despite the "X-Fi" label, are the only products in the X-Fi line not using the EMU20K1[4] chip (
CA20K1
)[5] but an older chip similar to the Audigy SE and SB Live! cards (
CA0106-WBTLF
)[6] and thus lacking the hardware acceleration of 3D sound and EAX sound effects, gaming and content creation features and the I/O extensibility of all the other X-Fi models.


In addition to PCI and PCIe internal sound cards, Creative also released an external USB-based solution (named X-Mod) in November 2006. X-Mod is listed in the same category as the rest of the X-Fi lineup, but is only a stereo device, marketed to improve music playing from laptop computers, and with lower specifications than the internal offerings.


The audio processor on X-Fi was the most powerful at its time of release, offering an extremely robust sample rate conversion (SRC) engine in addition to enhanced internal sound channel routing options and greater 3D audio enhancement capabilities. A significant portion of the audio processing unit was devoted to this resampling engine. The SRC engine was far more capable than previous Creative sound card offerings, a limitation that had been a major thorn in Creative's side. Most digital audio is sampled at 44.1 kHz, a standard no doubt related to CD-DA, while sound cards were often designed to process audio at 48 kHz. So, the 44.1 kHz audio must be resampled to 48 kHz (Creative's previous cards' DSPs operated at 48 kHz) for the audio DSP to be able to process and affect it. A poor resampling implementation introduces artifacts into the audio which can be heard, and measured as higher intermodulation distortion, within higher frequencies (generally 16 kHz and up).[9] X-Fi's resampling engine produces a near-lossless-quality result, far exceeding any known audio card DSP available at the time of release. This functionality is used not only for simple audio playback, but for several other features of the card such as the "Crystalizer", a technology that claims to improve the clarity of digital music through digital analysis (supported by all X-Fi models, including the Xtreme Audio and X-Mod).





Creative Labs states that the primary function of the Crystalizer is to "restore portions of the sound which were lost during compression". The "compression" that is meant here is 
not
 the digital file-size reduction achieved by digital audio data compression technologies like for example mp3. Rather, the idea is to reverse the effects of dynamic range compression, an analog technique that was and is used during the production of most 1990s and newer Audio CDs (with the exception of some classical music recordings) to make them sound louder at the same volume level setting, as it was found that subjectively louder CDs get more airplay and sell better. Last week, we launched the Seiko 5 Sports x Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary Limited Edition, and the response was, to say the least, overwhelming. This watch represents something special to us as a brand and as a collection of watch enthusiasts, putting a cap on 10 years of hard work, so the enthusiastic reception really means a lot. Given how special this watch was, we pulled out the stops and threw ourselves a little party to launch it. Below is a recap, including video, of that event that we hope you will enjoy.

After months of working on my new branding and website redesign as well as copy for our website, I thought there was no better way to unveil our new brand and celebrate our hard work than to pop the champagne with a stylish outdoor launch party in New Orleans.


I worked with Editor In Chief Media for my brand messaging and website copy and Sarah Ann Design for the logo, palette and website redesign. With my assets in hand, I begin designing an event inspired by all of the new branding work we had done. The obvious and perfect venue for our stylish outdoor launch party in New Orleans was none other than the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum!


I love, love, love this venue. I get the all the feels every time I walk into the courtyard. Taking on the task of planning and designing our own outdoor launch party, was unlike any other event design. It was personal. The tables had turned, and I was now the client planning my own outdoor launch party. Enjoy the photos below captured beautifully by Mo Davis Photography.


For the look, it was a no brainer that it would be branded in every possible way, while remaining tasteful. I wanted the locale to feel welcoming, however, loaded with WOW factor. The look and feel of the design was sleek, stylish and bold, just like our new branding. The event itself, it was a must that it be photo-worthy, this was immensely important as my design began to unfold for our outdoor launch party.





I wanted my guest to walk in and have their breathe taken away. Upon arrival into the Pharmacy Museum guest were greeted with warm towels for their hands, mask that expressed their comfort level and personal spray hand sanitizer.


It may be autumn but that's no reason we can't party like it's high summer. Isn't that right, Will Chelsom? He and four pals (Simon Tinley, Anna Chilton, Ed Wethered and Chris Kirkland) chose an al fresco location (on board the HMS President) to celebrate the launch of their charity Raise Your Hands. They got Cut and Shut Disco to DJ, The Correspondents to play, and they topped it all off with a deck-top barbecue. As for the name, it inspired people to literally raise their hands to donate, resulting in a couple of near collisions and drinks going flying. No use in crying over split champagne though; especially when it's all for a good cause (all money goes towards supporting disadvantaged young people in the UK).


All the sewing blogs are talking about one book: Breaking the pattern by Saara and Laura Huhta. I wanted to wait with the review until I made two of the patterns (Ruska and Sade). In the meantime, I went to the Helsinki book launch party to congratulate the designers for their achievement.
