The world flew hastily past as he gazed from the window, he wasn't there though, his mind was not there. The tannoy screamed, hurling it's incessant chant at all passengers in a distorted, aggressive torment. Hey You! Yes, You! Pay attention. He was gone. 
Forthcoming on Cititrax is Amato's new EP, charmingly titled, "Le desordre et la nuit". Amato is a new moniker of The Hacker who is best known for his powering techno and noise production. This EP sees him emulate such tastes in a slightly more melodic, electro based fashion.

Next up is the highly anticipated second release on 'Graphene'...Enter into a future prophecy world, where the stark realization of armageddon is foretold in all its hell-fire glory. 'Solenoid' is the narrator/observer of a planet controlled and afflicted. The future of the humanoids is about to concede to a terrifying conclusion. Prepare to be sucked into a repressive nightmare. 

First up: 'Colony' is a carved slice of visionary purgatory. Distorted pads swirl in whirlwinds of vortex like cylinders. It's a piece of perfectly crafted technoid mayhem. 

On the flip: 'Feathermen' begs the questions: Who are they? What will they do? What is their mission? All remains unanswered, except to acknowledge that a vile plan is at work. It's an hypnotic trip that eerily changes with every play. The main riff attacks your cranium with subtle but deadly force, eating its way into your soul. Shuffling rhythmic drum patterns are juxtaposed with curious bells and creeping washes. The Feathermen are in control. 

Last on the flip: 'Pandemic' is the absolute realization of a contaminated world. The pathogen continues to take down more and more of the planet. Steeped in urgency & despair, the space-age break gives insight to how the world might be after the annihilation....a new beginning or a end of all ends? You must decide. 

One thing to conclude is that however much they unleash their destruction, they can never defeat nature itself. 'Solenoid' delivers a distinctive, badass EP that additionally works sweet as a DJ tool. To be continued...

Six years on since his latest appearance on the label’s main series, Stroboscopic Artefacts boss Luca Mortellaro, aka Lucy, returns with ‘Dyscamupia’ – an introspective, multisensory techno triptych revolving around the core sequence of Albert Camus’ classic existentialist novel, ‘The Stranger’. Also known as the ‘killing of an arab’, this pivotal moment in Camus’ seminal book – which also inspired The Cure their song ‘Killing An Arab’ back in the day, is here evoked through three variedly intense, deep and hypnotic techno variations – flexing from 120 to 130, onto 140 BPM – each of them translating a particular step in the author’s minute, focal-shifting depiction of the unknown man’s murder on the beach.   

Embodying Meursault for a minute, Jason Snell lends his voice to the narrator and his inner demons, casting a strange, ominous spell on the club and its crowd. Willing to explore and dig up further into the textural wealth and crucial warmth of organic sounds and synthetic treatments, Lucy made wise use of the binaural microphones technology during the vocals recording process, greatly enhancing the immersive force of his compositions to create thoughtful, dystopic narrative bubbles that stand in their own right.

The first number, ‘ Dyscamupia (Forward)’, happens before and right until the actual killing – hence time flowing at a metronomic, heartbeat-like tempo; the second cut ‘Dyscamupia (Pause)’ takes place right after the nameless man’s death, when the narrator enters a kind of existential ‘pause’ and a whole new flow of consciousness begins; the third sequence, ‘Dyscamupia (Backward)’, plumbs the depths of the action itself as played backwards, like an equally hazed-out and dizzying reminiscence of the sad encounter’s mechanism. Don’t let its seemingly conceptual framework fool you though, like most of his past output ‘Dyscamupia’ also aims to bring dancefloors to a steady simmer, whilst maintaining Lucy’s ascending momentum towards an all-round genre-busting, thought-provoking apex.
