grassinoel -Deep House Hypnotica Mix

Track List below.
Inspired by the 30th Anniversary of Nottingham's legendary DiY Collective, this mix features a collection of music created across that timespan by musicians and producers from within the DiY core,close associates & the wider house music family that drew inspiration from the trailblazing musical, hedonistic & cultural blitzkrieg that they spearheaded throughout the 1990s and beyond. Nottingham area producers such as Inland Knights / Andy Riley  , Neil Tolliday (aka Nail / Bent) - Charles Webster(aka Furry Phreaks)Rhythm Plate(also Yse Saint Laur'Ant), Ron Basejam, Schmoov- all included here -  emerged from this scene and era, many releasing their debut releases on DiY Discs. 
DiY's importance  within the house music world and the wider culture - mainly in UK but also internationally, while surely not yet fully recognised, should not be underestimated. As well as  being in the vanguard of promoting underground house music through their own early 90's club nights and parties in Nottingham , their mix tape releases and record label, DiY were one of the first to fuse house music , free festival ethos and Jamaican sound system culture, creating DiY Sound System.
Along with other like-minded maverick musical warriors they pioneered the outdoor /countryside/ under the stars/ summer free party. This irrevocably changed thousands of people's lives,  altered their way of looking at the world and suggested how we might live and socialise...
In pursuit of this utopian vision, property / drug and other laws were violated for the greater good and DiY put their personal safety/liberty on the line every weekend across those heady summers in the 90's,  to entertain and enlighten.
The well documented gathering at Castlemorton in May 1992, marked a  turning point. DiY  were one of the few systems flying the flag for underground "proper" house music....
Direct DiY action against the now infamous Criminal Justice Bill followed-  Other sound systems, notably Smokescreen, picked up the mantle in the 90s.
Of course, the utopian vision didn't materialise & as happens in such heady hedonistic worlds, there were deaths, prosecutions, jailings, social and  personal misdemeanours and casualties en route.......but hey, what a journey for those involved, and what a legacy. 
Many DiYers are still out there agitating, educating and organising to this day.
Their free party blueprint laid solid foundations, and in spite of restrictions that have curtailed the ability of anyone to recreate what DiY achieved in that decade, austerity driven Police cuts have seen a renaissance in recent years.
All of the tracks included here are made by people who have direct connection to DiY or who grew up in or adopted  Nottingham East Midlands region as their home. Includes as yet unreleased tracks from "newer" Nottingham producers such as Jamie Deep and Coxie.
