A short Summary of my 3 step system of how to deal with someone who is Scientifically Illiterate:

LOOK OUT FOR: Sweeping Generalizations, Argumentum ad populum (just because everyone does it) and Oversimplification. These are the biggest indicators that someone is being scientifically illiterate :P

1. VERIFY YOUR SOURCE. Make sure that the information you use comes from a peer reviewed journal, or credible source.

2. QUESTION YOUR PROSPECT. Be gentle. Don't get defensive. Ask what they really think. This is a very good tool not only for this, but all aspects in your business.

3. EDUCATE. Either refer the prospect to a person who can help, or work on it together by verifying in The Source, or using credible sources on the internet!

Scientific Illiteracy

A little talk about Sugar, Sweetners and Glycemic index. Let me know if you want more details concerning one of these topics!

KEEP IT SIMPLE. There is so much stigma surrounding sugar, so just learn the KEY FACTS and KEEP IT SIMPLE:

TOP 3 tips for chatting sugar

1. SUGAR IS SUGAR. No matter what you call it, or no matter how "natural" or "raw" it is. 

2. Sweetners are not directly bad for you (maybe) but moreso THEY TRICK YOUR BODY SO YOU WANT MORE FOOD. This is a viscious cycle you need to break. 

3. Sugar is great when used in MODERATION and in a CONTROLLED MANNER THAT YOUR BODY CAN ABSORB. This is called glycemic index. It measures how rapidly your body can absorb sugar. High GI means rapidly absorbed, liver overload, insulin spikes, diabetic comas and obesity. Low GI means well maintained, healthy balance and absorbed only in quantities needed. That is why it is OK for Arbonne (or any other sugars) to be had with FIBRE or any other forms that lower the GI.

An episode today talking about Mineral Oil and Vaseline. 
Mineral Oil and Vaseline (Petrolatum) are ALKANES (a class of molecule and in the family of petroleum based products. They DO NOT COME FROM GASOLINE, but rather share a common ancestor of sorts. 

It is important you know these two key points when dealing with Mineral oil

1. Mineral oil IS NOT TOXIC. It is, however, not beneficial. It would prevent any good ingredients from being absorbed by the skin as it blocks the pores. This is why Arbonne chooses not  to formulate with mineral oil.

2. For the same reason (creating an absorption barrier), it is a GREAT DEFENCE against bacteria and nasties when you are trying to heal a surface trauma or injury (surgery, open wound etc.)It won't let any good in, but no bad either. It really is like surrounding your skin in plastic. Very good for keeping bacteria out. So it is important we DO NOT STOP PEOPLE from using this for THIS REASON! :) Of course, Arbonne can be used as a supplement to the regimen to heal the skin after the barrier is no longer needed.
