[Bergwacht, Cologne] @juni-cologne

JuNi aka Juli from Cologne fell deeply in love with techno music back in 2011 and spent many years on the dance floor in various cities in Europe, but especially in the famous Cologne techno clubs Artheater and Odonien.
In 2020 she switched to the other side of the stage and started DJing. In the past two years her melodic, driving and playful techno sound could be heard at various open air, festivals and her favorite club Artheater.
She became resident at “BergWacht“ in 2022 – a party series in Cologne, well- known for melodic techno sounds.
Influenced by now more than a decade in which music has accompanied her, her mixes are characterized by already forgotten 'classics' as well as tracks by newcomers or relatively unknown artists, so they are always good for a surprise.

Gratwanderung Podcast 024 - Kim.

A few weeks ago, Gîn (@ginbali) had taken a long walk with one of their closest friends. The two of them go way back, sharing a level of trust so precious there are little words to describe. As they strolled through various neighborhoods of a city of three million, they talked a lot about music and the way they produce, see, feel and listen to it.

At midnight they decided to attend a listening session at a cozy venue. The space allows you to lay on the floor on pillows and carpets, so they were lying  there, inhaling this moment together, feeling the trust between each other. It almost felt like the bond between the two of them was catchable in this room. That night with him reminded Gîn of a feeling inside that they are not able to acknowledge so much which is vulnerability. Upon returning home, Gîn stayed awake through the night, blending tracks and compositions. The result was not only a mixtape, but a dedication to that holy night. “It is dedicated to the trust I have for you my dear friend and my gratitude to be vulnerable in front of you.” 

This is no Gîn Bali go hard or go home set so if you’re looking for that catch them live ;))

Bassb4bes4breakfast are better than every coffee in bed. Since Naima and Swantje ( @lu-rebel )share their apartment, it wasn't a very far step behind the turntables. They've been djing for 'Ivory', Unikat- ( @unikatclub ) and keybab-kollective in the Ruhr area and shortly also at Mensch Meier ( @menschmeier_berlin )in Berlin. Naima aka Cobisteaming already absorbed the music with her mother's milk and has been combining her passion for music and dance in the dj-knobs for 2 years now. Swantje hab been making people dance  and move as lu.rebel at various events around the area for 4 years now. She is also a member of Unikat-collective. With combined flinta*-power, they move genre fluid within groove, house, garage and trance. You won't find ultimate perfection in this set, but tons of fun and good mood!

Gratwanderung Podcast 039 - Chris Rose

Micha Nismus ( @micha_nismus )has been behind the decks for more than 15 years, with his musical roots in house and trance. For him, harmony and melody are always the main focus — monotonous tracks just aren’t his thing. There has to be something happening in the music that sparks his interest and keeps him engaged.

Inspired by house and trance, Micha Nismus has gravitated toward melodic techno in recent years, though he still enjoys weaving in house music and dub-influenced deep techno into his sets.

Melodic techno is where his heart truly lies. It’s here that he finds the elements of electronic music that continue to fascinate him, turning music into an essential lifeline.

For the Gratwanderung collective, he stepped a bit out of his comfort zone and recorded one of his rare, faster-paced sets.

Dirk Domin ( @dirkdomin ) is a Wuppertal-based freelance journalist, wine merchant, and DJ. In the latter role, he recorded this week’s Gratwanderung mix.

Despite his personal leanings toward jazz, dubstep, and UK bass, the mix turned out to be quite “housey” — featuring some fresh new favorites alongside a few deeply personal all-time classics. Some of these were intentionally chosen to evoke memories of the legendary Gewölbe club in Cologne and the iconic Kompakt label.

Gratwanderung Podcast 041 - Dirk Domin

In this week's episode we're bringing Pushkin OBY ( @pushkinoby ) straight to your ears! His set was born on the road – somewhere between sweaty car rides, flickering tropical nights, and an endless search for driving grooves. It’s a journey through body and space: from sundrenched funk to a dark, physical form of hard techno that, by the end of the night, demands to be released in a collective explosion of movement.

Ranging from 145 to 149 BPM, the set builds steadily – beginning with percussive, groove-heavy rhythms and culminating in pulsing, monotone-driven hard techno. True to the motto: from the beaches of Yucatán to the rattling industrial halls and damp basements we all know too well.

Throughout, vocal samples and groove elements weave together to form an atmospheric narrative
– a storyline that evolves track by track, pulling the crowd into a space that goes beyond the
dancefloor, into inner states of departure, trance, and raw energy.
