*MC* It's Narathip! The Amsterdam-based DJ comes through with a heavy low-end mix that captures the essence of experiencing a soundsystem for the first time again. 

A cultural curator who does it all, Narathip runs the booking agency and music platform Rhythmic Culture, hosts a regular radio show on Echobox as well as works in-house at local juggernaut Dekmantel. Late last year, Narathip celebrated 7 years of Rhythmic Culture which initially started as a Soundcloud channel and has now expanded into a booking agency - with the likes of AliA, Lieke TR, Lolo Batten, Low End Activist, ojoo, Photonz and more on their roster - and last year saw the launch of their record label with a release from Zohar & Mika Oki followed by Keita Sano. To celebrate their 7th birthday, Rhythmic Culture took over Skatecafe for an all killer, no filler event with Identified Patient, Askmelater, Lieke TR, Madba, Max Abysmal, Photonz and Thrills in +41. 

In the below interview, we get to know Narathip a little more as we chat through his musical history, relationship with creativity, inspirations and approach to his craft. Plus he takes us on a deep dive into the bass bin with podcast 179.

"Four years ago, I released a mix on Nowruz for the new year, and I listened back to it as a prompt. March 2020 and March 2024 are enveloped by unimaginable displacement and loss, and we are called on to plant and water seeds of resistance as we move into spring. While this mix features my classic deranged three minute blends, they’re contrasted by complex syncopation and seismic switch-ups that more accurately create a container for the unknowns of the new year. Within this mystery, there’s a hyperactive optimism, reflected by the dark but celebratory second half of the mix. Expect acid, dabke, breaks, and the usual genre-busting rumblings."

Here at ARC we pride ourselves on keeping our ears and eyes peeled and I'm happy to say my first encounter with Dykechow was at a random open decks night at the High Dive commiserating on our (madeofants here) mutual love for Aphex Twin after she threw dowin some deep cuts. Since then we at ARC have been doing our level best to get Dykechow to your ears because she has proven to be a massive talent in hiding. Producing dreamy tracks on her soundcloud while brewing up mixes like this featuring everything our upper addled minds at the ARC office love. I'm super stoked to be able to be able to bring you another speed queen of the highest order ready to rinse your ears out and take your brain for a spin.

This started as a profile for music I made when I was in high school (17 years ago!!), but now it's where I upload my DJ Mixes!

I go by Sirwootalot when I'm playing more fun and goofy horse techno / weeaboo nonsense / irreverent booty food

I don't always write music; but when I do, I prefer Industrial Techno so hard that you give yourself whiplash.

Once envisioned as a legit album-chucking laptop-show-having Tshirt-selling musical project, this is mostly now a thing I do on the side for fun. At some point I hope to have enough material to make some kind of release, but in the meantime, so long as someone likes this enough to give it a listen or add it to their DJ set, I'm good! 

Musically, I'm influenced by a wide spectrum of things under the Industrial umbrella and a few just outside of it - Aggrotech, EBM, Synthpop, Dark Techno, French Electro, and early Psytrance especially.
