Next up at Edwin Music channel is Berlin-based producer and DJ @benediktfrey and his close friend @menqui with whom he co-runs the label R.i.O.

For EDWIN MUSIC CHANNEL, he joined forces with his friend Menqui, who is overseeing the administration for the R.i.O. label, is part of the Berlin-based Muting The Noise Record Store and Distribution crew, runs a radio show for Cashmere Radio and plays regular in all those small, but delicate Berlin bars and little dancefloor venues. Together they prepared an epic mix, created live and direct in Menqui’s living room, featuring all sorts of music from pop, Trip-Hop, and Hip-hop to free-tripping electronic grooves. I found an old iPod a couple of days ago and on top of a ton of old mixes and tracks I found this set I put together for the @balearicsocial crew up in Leeds in 2012. That's 13 years ago! I don't think this one's online anymore, so here it is once again, freshly transferred from the depths of arcane technology. 

It goes all over the place: Ambient, tribal, soul, downtempo, left-field, kosmiche, jazz and into very loose territory! I really enjoyed hearing these records again, and I hope you dig it too. Big shout to Andy Pye and all the Yorkshire Balearic ultras!

Chris (Illogical Operator) cut his teeth in the Dundee music scene of the mid 90s before moving to London and running a successful club night, Zombie Disco, at infamous south east rave hole, Bubblegum. He then found himself back in Dundee curating events under the moniker The Bombay Club, as well as hosting a tent at Dundee's biggest annual festival, Westfest. Chris is now in Glasgow, where, along with some like minded reprobates, they host WrongParty in various venues across the city.

Zillas on Acid is Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, resident DJs for eighteen years and counting at MAKING TIME, Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution. Since the release of their EPs Black Cat (Optimo Music) and She Takes NRG (Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques de la Mort), the Zillas have been busy building a steady catalog of music for labels like Live at Robert Johnson, Dischi Autunno, Running Back, Inside Out, Multi-Culti, Permanent Vacation, Polari, NEUBAU, and more. Along the way, they’ve garnered support from futuristic fellow travelers like Roman Flügel, Dixon, Jennifer Cardini, Justin Strauss, Bradley Zero, Sean Johnston, and many others. 2025 sees the debut of Zillas on Acid LIVE–a new band incarnation featuring additional musicians in the mix–to create slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to excite party people from all planets.
