The glorious Marco Lys returns to the long-serving Great Stuff imprint with a magnificent two-tracker entitled “Flame EP”.  Marco explores the deeper, thicker low frequencies while not losing sight of the main room dance floors with these two hand crafted compositions.

A raw bassline rumbles through the title track “Flame”, accompanied by outer-space beeps and bleeps and warm pads. The perfectly situated break-downs provide a maximum level of energy and the vocal snippets keep things fresh.

Up next is the mesmerizing “I Wish” slow burner. It features Marco’s trademark percussion layers, that  work in perfect symbioses with the snappy groove and the thumping sub bass. The added delay effects and haunting keys will make this a dancer’s favorite for months to come.

The widely beloved super-heroes Moonbootica & Ante Perry joined forces for an enthusiastic and seldom recording gathering. The masterly artists amaze with an extravagant floor-filler. Their “Look Out” composition focuses on building tension, but not at the expense of orientation and dynamics. It immediately sets an energetic vibe that will keep the crowd’s heart rate up. The crisp organ sounds and raw vocal fragments make it stand out in that regard. 

Juliet Fox’s remix takes it’s time and a slightly deeper approach, using only the original’s supporting pillars to form her slow burning interpretation. She replaces the peak-time effect work with a looser and more mystical rhythm. Making her version the perfect soundtrack for the sun-drenched early morning hours.

Denmark’s Kasúal adds futuristic pads and a slamming fresh bassline to his arrangement. It’s the most hypnotic track on this quality-release and features a handful of melodic break-downs that will keep you locked in from start to finish.

To coincide with the full remix album’s unveiling on CD, the exquisite reworkings of “All I Think About Is Death” and “Why You Feel So Low”, by techno heavyweights Radio Slave and Function respectively, have been singled out for release on vinyl.

The former bears all the hypnotic hallmarks of a Radio Slave classic: incrementally menacing percussive lines woven with the heart- wrenching vocal chants of the original over an epic 12 minutes. At once understated and emphatic, the tenor is deepened in the extreme on an ambient “Atmos” version.

Berghain resident, Function, on the other hand treats Claustrophobia’s flagship “Why You Feel So Low” with a delicate touch: he retains the buoyant hook of the original, underlying it with a thunderous, reverberating bassline, handclaps for days, and a beat tailor-made for only the biggest and brightest sound systems.

Remcord's slow burning interpretation of “Anxiously” focuses heavily on a gorgeously morphing groove, teasing melody fragments and glistering hats. A perfect balance of energy and feel, while never losing sight of the original’s vibe. 

Beatamines’ remix opens with plenty of driving sub-bass, and a massive jacking rhythm stacked underneath the sleaze vocals. With jumping and smacking percussion, this remix lacks no flair and is fully focused on making you dance.

Great Stuff proudly presents volume six of it’s “To The Underground” series. The series features solely exclusive tracks. Hand picked with only the dance floor in mind. Tracks that will work crowds and elevate dj sets. 

To The Underground Vol.6 kick starts with JJ Mullor & Toni Carrillo’s “Yeah“. An uplifting tech house beast, that features a rolling bassline, which was constructed to take dance floors by storm. The smooth female vocal snippets and the tight groove programming are keeping things moving forward in a fun way.

Next up is Joe Mesmar’s dark “I Feel So Weak”. This prime time techno weapon consists of the perfect late night vibes: Pitched down vocals, a growling bassline and moody pads. 

Slovenia’s vibrant duo Alex Long & Stanny Abram take us on an expedition. Haunting melodic bits & pieces and a thick minimal techno groove are the foundation for “Heat”.

Crunchy sounds float throughout hight-tech percussions, while the rough pads provide the right amount of energy. Luigi Gori & Anis Hachemi also manage to playfully work stirring vocals into their slick arrangement. Their “Just One” composition is the perfect mood setter.

The striking feature of Alex Ranerro’s “Shelter” is it’s constantly morphing groove and enormous bassline that support the engaging vocal particles in the most stylish way. Monstrous drops and tight pads make this a peak-time sure shot!

Rodrik is completing this fine collection of quality electronic music. His “Trece” is all about the distinct and profound melody. It leads the way through a wide field of delay-filled sounds and temperamental snare builds.

Delusion is a fresh-out-of-the-studio deep hypnotic techno track by Melbourne based Daniel Verhagen. It's the first track from his forthcoming EP to be released on Australian underground house/techno superlabel Upon Access run by Made in Paris.

A hypnotic atmosphere, timeless piano keys and dreamy vocal all create a perfect soundscape on this (d)illusional track.  Delusion was inspired by the delusive lure of perfectionism whilst on the pursuit of mastery. Sonically, it features a contrasting balance of classical and contemporary instruments used to create a film music inspired melancholic soundscape.

Out on Upon Access January 27th.

HMWL Premiere: Daniel Verhagen - Delusion

Peckham duo FYI Chris return to Rhythm Section INTL for the second time with their ‘Snafubar’ EP, including the raw and dusty house track ‘Lonestar’.

Although the track can be said to possess a house structure, it’s clearly not easy to categorize, as the producers use an unconventional approach to delivering dancefloor focused material. With an overall gritty motif, FYI Chris present a stripped back cut highlighted by rough, warm and organic textures.

On the inspiration behind ‘Lonestar’, FYI Chris give a nod to a legendary hip-hop duo: "We’re big fans of a certain duo from DITC and this track is a little shout out to those guys".

Perhaps Rodney and Andre would be down to lay a verse on this one, but that’s a different story.
