At home mixing hip hop, grime, phonk, dancehall, dub, reggae, drum & bass and more, checking out one of her dynamic performances will surely make yurr’ booty bounce. Calling Revelstoke home since 2013, she has found her groove as a radio host, DJ, event producer, dance & yoga instructor, bringing vibes to the community while encouraging collaborations to uplift and elevate local artists. Hilz pours love into all of her performances and projects, ever propelled upwards by her passion for spreading joy, love and understanding through music and movement.

"I was lined up to play a few festivals this fall and they were postponed due to wildfires in British Columbia. This mix included a bunch of bouncy, hood savvy, BASScentric beats that I wanted to play for the people! Thanks in part to Bonz Blessit, I have dove into Phonk over the last few years. This mix includes some of my favourite phonk producers, Kalibvr, POOTY, OGee-T, and the whole PurplePosse crew. I’ve also been loving the baille funk sound, and one producer in particular, HYALYTE is making really dynamic tracks. It took me a bit to figure out how I could embark upon a baille phonk journey, and I’m so glad that I did! As per usual, I’ve included some of my fav hip hop, grime, dub, dancehall, and even a sneaky drum n bass track in the mix (ayy Shaggy). Biggggggggggups to everyone out there making music and taking chances, I see you and I am so grateful. And super duper thank you to Bonz for your passion for music and hard work & consistency in sharing it with the people. As the Phonk overlords and Bonz say, 'Phonk is Life'."

Cut Chemist presents Lesson 6: The Lecture EP. Remastered for 2016 this release includes his Cut's mid-nineties opus in its original form from the original session multi-tracks with all elements intact. The original track itself is sometimes confused for the 1999 major label "watered down" rerelease. Also included is "Lesson 6: Instrumental (DIY Version)" minus the cuts and dialogue plus "Lesson 6: The Sketch" a raw and sometimes crude, unedited 15-minute practice tape that became the blueprint for this monumental lesson. 'Lesson 6' has become a spring board not only for the cut-n-paste style associated with Cut Chemist's approach to production but a feel for Jurassic 5's music as an eclectic and inventive whole.

Drifting between melancholy moments, bouts of longing, waves of bliss, and periods of perseverance, I think I’ve captured what happiness feels like as an adult. Not pure joy, but a balance between satisfaction and letting go. There’s light at the end of the tunnel, but even the best moments also pass. The cycle continues.
