Dennis Brain used to use this piece (arr horn and piano)as his encore. He described at as, "the shortest piece I know." This version for horn quartet was arranged by Ray Thompson. All four parts played by Roger Berg, Jr. using Yamaha Silent Brass and Audacity software.

This is a very short  horn duet with very interesting rhythm and harmony by a fairly obscure composer - Carl Türrschmiedt, He was a German cor basse (or low horn)player who lived from 1753 to 1797. He studied under his father Johann Türrschmidt (b Leschgau, 24 June 1725; d Wallerstein, 1800), a renowned primo horn player in the orchestra of the Prince of Oettingen-Wallerstein. From 1770 Carl Türrschmidt and the cor alto player Johann Palsa appeared as duettists in Paris.

Christmas Shorts - IV Angels we have Heard on High arr James Naigus

Former Military horn player stopped playing for nearly 20 years but started playing again for fun in 2013. All of the parts on the tracks I'm sharing are played by me and recorded by me. I'm using Yamaha's Silent Brass system - basically a practice mute with microphone built in, patched into a computer running Audacity software to record the parts against a click track. The main disadvantage to this system is that I don't have my hand in the bell, so I can't color the sound or make fine pitch adjustments like I usually would. For those who care - playing on a Holton 177 which my folks bought new for me way back in 1979. Hope you enjoy!
