This is a piece I started in 2005.  I stopped working on it in 2006 and have not touched it since.  I don't know that I will finish it, but I still can never get this melody out of my head.  The woman for whom I was writing this piece exited my life, and I was never able to complete it.  Maybe inspiration will strike again someday, and I'll be able to finish it.

Whoever She Is, Wherever She May Be

While this track does have a beginning and ending, I consider it still a work in progress.  It is a remix of a wonderfully somber tune from the obscure NES gem "The Magic of Scheherazade."  Upon entering World 4, you are subjected to a cold wintry landscape with the 8-bit version of this tune to accompany you on your journey.  I really liked the source tune, and once I began my foray into video game remixing, this was near the top of my list (mostly because I had not been able to find a remix of it out there--and still haven't!).  I may finish it some day, but it seems a shame to keep it all to myself--maybe I can spark some ideas in someone else.  It's pretty basic, but so is the source tune.  And shame on me for only encoding it in 128kbps back in the day . . .  Oh how I was such a noob, lol.  Enjoy!!

The Magic of Scheherazade

This is a really old project I was working on.  I really want to finish it when I have some time, but I wanted to give an already great tune a different feel.  Terra's Theme (written by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu) has been remixed so many times, and there are some epic covers of this song out there.  I think the challenge is trying to create something new for a song that everyone loves already.  It has to be unique, creative, interesting, and still carry the beauty of the source tune.

I have intentions of still keeping several simplified elements to it throughout, but there will be a percussive addition of some sort, for sure.  I just picture a music box with a metal wheel, and those small dimples that trigger the notes to be played at the precise time, and I see a crystalline dancer above it, surrounded by mirrors, slowly turning to this somber but beautiful melody.

The rest is a secret.  I will eventually get to work on it again, but for now, you will just have to imagine and comment.  :)

Terra

An original composition and tribute to my favorite composer of all-time, Danny Elfman.  I haven't worked on it in years, and most of what I wrote was just to establish a similar sound.  I do intend on finishing it someday though.

When I sat down, I wanted to capture a scene and write music for it.  So I pictured a softly falling snow, a warm lantern in the middle of a snow-covered road.  There are two heavily clad figures, walking down the middle of the quiet night's road, and they are holding hands, side-by-side.  The moon shines brightly upon the snow, making everything appear ethereal.

As always, all constructive criticism and comments are welcome.  The rest of what I intend to do with this piece is top secret.  ;)

Snow-Shrouded Dreams

I'm a huge music lover.  I listen to a wide variety of music on a daily basis.  I'm always seeking inspiration of my own, and someday I might find the spark to write again.  For the time being, I am here to hone in on some of my favorite upcoming artists' music, and to post some of my works in progress from time to time.
