I'm busier than I'd like to be. For me, composing music has always come from the privilege of boredom, which is harder when you have to earn a living. I was raised by parents who were passionate about music. Mom always listened to her Vivaldi recordings (which she played on) while driving.

Most of my music is composed on a computer (on music software), but around 2017, I got into machines and played with them a lot. I started the playlist project when I received an Akai S2000 (I sent you the first track). What motivated me to create this account was to share my journey into synthesizer building. I knew nothing about electrical engineering, but I finally managed to build my own modular synthesizer!

This process really made me appreciate a lot of things about music and sound, but I think mostly about simplicity, or the ability to produce something complex/rich with simple approaches. What I also like about IDM/braindance, or at least my approach, is that the subject matter is endless. I have so many ideas for songs every day, and I can try them out without any constraints (except time).

I'm not really looking to play gigs. I've DJed and done a few shows, but I'm not really a travel type. Gigs stress me out, even though some people enjoy that lifestyle. I think dancing is important, and everyone should practice dancing, at least at home. I love dancing at home, or listening to an album. Those are my favorite ways to listen. It's funny and probably weird, but I mostly listen to my music. That's almost all I want to hear. It's probably kind of a personal obsession, but I love that as a songwriter, you can create something new for yourself and experience it! It's amazing. Sometimes I get so immersed in writing a piece that, once I'm done, and I go see a movie or something and then listen to it again, it's like hearing it for the first time! It's like a dream I have so many that they create a kind of diary for me. Listening to them, I remember where I was and what I felt. Almost like therapy :)

Of course, I listen to other people's music. My favorites are Alec Empire (funny, he's very politically engaged, but his music isn't), Current Value (the therapist himself), B12, Techno Animal, etc. And who here wouldn't mention AFX?!

I played the violin when I was little. Now I only play drums, but I just practice, not in a band. I haven't had the opportunity to play for almost a year. "Do you produce anything other than electronic music?": Yes! I've done filmmaking (short films, etc.), animation as a teenager, painting, modern art... I started programming about five years ago and I do a lot of it now in my free time.

"What's important to you? (in music, life, ...)": hard to say... you never really know what you should focus on versus what you think you should focus on. so those things could change. That said, what's important to me in art (but this certainly applies to almost everything) is to "strive for greatness."

It might be a cliché, but I think it's important because a lot of artists I've met feel like they don't have the imagination for something truly extraordinary (I'm not saying everyone, of course). I feel like a lot of them have a humble stance, kind of like, "What if I did something similar to this artist but a little different?" But they're not thinking about something like, "I'm going to make something so heavy that it's going to paralyze people, so beautiful that it's going to make them cry while standing up and so influential that it's going to shape culture for the next 1,000 years..." Of course, it's funny and crazy to think that, but most people I know don't even see that level of imagination. I think trying to achieve that, accomplishing even 1%, is a success.

and in life... I would say live in the truth. It's also probably a cliché, but never lie to yourself, explore the truth, what seems true to you without deception, it's a journey and it makes life truly fascinating. Nowadays, it's more often a joyful relief to find faults in myself rather than before, it just meant a depressive episode. It tears me up inside when I see people I know lying to themselves. I feel like it's a trend.

« Que dire de 4rd ? Il habite aux états unis, il m’a envoyé une énorme quantité de musiques. Mais pas beaucoup d’autres informations. Je l’ai découvert sur soundcloud, figure de la commmunauté braindance de soundcloud, ça fait au moins 10 ans qu’il publie sous le pseudonyme de 4rd, 8 ans sous le pseudo Bewwip. Je le soupçonne d’étre aussi derrière 3rd Armpit, sans en avoir eu la confirmation. Je le soupçonne aussi d’être le fameux t0m, un profil soundcloud nous délivrant d’excellents mix de braindance. Et peut être derrière bien d’autres alias. Et finalement, qu’importe, tant que la musique est bonne ? Pas de profil facebook ou instagram, ce qui nous interesse, c’est le son, tout simplement. 4rd expérimente, il s’amuse, brouille les pistes, semble faire ce qui lui plaît, et c’est ce qui me plaît. « « Qu’est-ce qui est important pour toi ? (dans la musique, la vie, ...) » : difficile à dire... on ne sait jamais vraiment sur quoi il faut se concentrer par rapport à ce sur quoi on pense devoir se concentrer. donc ces choses pourraient changer. Cela dit, ce qui est important pour moi dans l’art (mais cela s’applique certainement à presque tout) c’est de « rechercher la grandeur ». »
